ZEFR is growing! We are hiring a new Director of Engineering to our growing applications team. This is an opportunity for problem-solving with an innovative team that is making magic every day by developing better, faster, more powerful, robust, and scalable tools for other internal teams and external clients.

As a great candidate for this position, you will be proficient in writing all aspects of a web application in an open-source, fast-paced environment. Many of our applications use Python as primary language but we are language agnostics looking for leadership skills in this role. We look for engineers who think of the whole as they do their part; who take non-dogmatic approaches to development and use the tools at hand in creative ways.

Here's what you'll do: 

• Attract, retain, develop and manage top engineering talent.
• Team leadership and mentorship, one-on-ones, etc.
• Own and lead the engineering function by overseeing the development of long-term strategic and short-term roadmaps
• Partner with management team to ensure effective product/project development
• Create employee development programs to create high performance work teams
• Work on developing the skill set of managers, assign accountabilities, objectives and establishing priorities
• Transform the culture by providing leadership to direct reports that drives the division to meet strategic, operational and profit objectives
• Ensure proper deployment of resources to achieve cost effective results in support of site and business function deliverables
• Drive operational excellence throughout the organization and creates a metrics driven, highly accountable mindset within the organization

Here's what we're looking for: 

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent
• 10+ years of software development experience
• At least 3+ years of experience managing a team
• 3 - 7+ years of experience building public-facing web applications
• Solid working knowledge of Python, Java, AWS, React
• Object-oriented design & computer science fundamentals
• Ability to review and ensure engineering best practices
• Ability to manage a diverse team of software developers
• Ability to present and communicate technical designs and processes to both technical and non-technical audiences
