About Us

Fair is a FinTech company that provides a new way to shop, get approved and pay for your next car—all on your phone. It gives customers the freedom to drive the car they want for as long as they want, and the flexibility to turn it in at any time. Fair is headquartered in Santa Monica, California.

Our name pretty much says it all. It’s our culture. It’s the way we treat our customers, our network of dealers and our fast-growing family of employees. We believe in hard work, and we believe hard work should be rewarded. That’s why we offer equity incentives, education reimbursement, 100% coverage of medical, vision and dental premiums for employees and their families, 100% paid parental leave for 4 months, cellphone reimbursement, 401(k) retirement plans and free lunch 5 days a week for every employee. The way we see it, better to be more than fair than not to live up to our name.

Who You Are

You are a highly motivated data scientist/machine learning engineer who will help us reshape the car acquisition process. You are a “full stack” data sculptor, molding raw data sets into art—production quality machine learning models. At Fair, you will play a pivotal role in transforming the auto industry by designing and implementing various machine learning models across the entire Fair app experience.

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate across engineering and business units to develop data products driven by business needs.
  • Design and develop machine learning models, explore new prediction algorithms, construct new features, and research new technologies.
  • Deploy your machine learning models as real-time production services.
  • Contribute to our machine learning tech stack.

What You Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a quantitative discipline; advanced degree is a plus.
  • Expertise in machine learning algorithms.
  • Willingness to apply skillset to solve business problems.
  • Strong coding abilities with a desire to work in Python.
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative (and fun) team environment, and an eagerness to contribute ideas, share skills, and develop best practices.
  • Experienced in or eagerness to learn Python, sklearn, matplotlib, Luigi, SQL, Docker, Kubernetes, Spark, TensorFlow, Hive/Presto, Tableau, AWS.

Bonus points

  • Experience competing in a Kaggle competition.
