As a Data Scientist at Fuel Cycle, you will report directly to the VP of R&D and collaborate closely with the VP of Product. You will leverage your knowledge of statistics to help create and enhance our capabilities around predictive analytics while innovating and quickly iterating on novel solutions to challenging data problems. This role involves wearing a lot of hats, and working with full stack engineers, product managers so ability to learn quickly and willingness to help in other areas will be crucial to success.

Responsibilities
  • Leverage your experience in data science to create and enhance Fuel Cycle capabilities in predictive analytics
  • Apply state of the art machine learning, statistics or data mining with a variety of data sources, including market research data, social data, and behavioral data
  • Design experiments, test hypotheses, and build models. Validate analysis using scenario modeling
  • Apply advanced statistical and predictive modeling techniques to build, maintain, and improve on multiple real-time decision systems
  • Support discovery process with colleagues and customers to identify business requirements and expected outcomes
  • Identify available data sources and leverage new data collection processes. Provide strategic recommendations for enhanced and continual data mining
  • Make strategic recommendations on data collection, storage and retention
  • Define requirements for data deliverables, including data visualization and programmatic alerts
  • Collaborate with developers and product managers in an open, creative, and cooperative environment
Qualifications
  • Real-world experience building analytics solutions
  • 3 years+ experience as Data Scientist (data analysis, visualization, AI/ML) relevant work experience
  • Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics or related field (Biostatistics, Physics, Econometrics, Computer Science)
  • Experience with open source machine learning tool kits, deep learning, data mining, and statistical analysis tools
  • Fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, high-performance computing, algorithm design, complexity analysis, problem solving and diagnosis
  • Familiarity with multivariate regression, logistic regression, clustering algorithms, support vector machines, decision trees and predictive modeling
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Java, R, SAS, Python (Pandas/NumPy/SciPy), Julia
  • Proficient in MySQL, comfortable with relational databases, familiarity with NoSQL Mongo
  • Able to mentor junior team members
  • Communicate with clarity, accuracy, precision and logic
  • Strong orientation toward quality assurance
