Forbes released their yearly list of the hottest startups yesterday, featuring a single Los Angeles company — .
In a list dominated by San Francisco and New York startups, Chicago's Uptake, a reclusive data analytics startup, landed in the top spot. Santa Monica's Whipclip took lucky number 13 on the list.
Founded in 2014 by serial entrepreneurs Ori Birnbaum (
) and Richard Rosenblatt ( ), Whipclip allows users to create custom content from television and music videos to share with their friends.The company raised over $20 million before launching in March 2015. In July they raised a $40 million Series C led by Eminence Capital.
