MIT's Seed Accelerator Rankings Project (SARP) released its yearly rankings this week and LA's MuckerLabs and Amplify were named among the top 10 accelerators in the U.S.

The rankings, now in their fourth year, ranked San Francisco's AngelPad as the top accelerator in the U.S. with MuckerLab sitting right behind them in the two-spot, and Amplify landing at number seven.

MuckerLab is a year-long accelerator that has guided 35 successfully funded startups since 2011, including Retention Science, Twenty20, and Surf Air.

Based in Venice, Amplify was founded in 2011 and their portfolio features more than 40 companies, including AlphaDraft, RadPad, and Clutter.

The rankings were determined by six key metrics: Valuation, Qualified Exit, Qualified Fundraising, Survival, Founder Satisfaction, and Alumni Network. The accelerators and their startups shared a majority of the information but were reluctant to provide fundraising and valuation metrics. MIT, as an educational, independent research entity, was able to attain the information in confidence to provide greater transparency.

It is important to note that the acclaimed Y Combinator was not included on the list since they now identify as a seed fund.
