The Role

The Wave Planning Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the wave planning process within our Hot Topic distribution center. This role ensures efficient order fulfillment, maximizes productivity, and minimizes operational costs. The Wave Planning Supervisor will collaborate with various departments and implement strategies to improve overall warehouse operations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and develop wave team across both shifts to ensure clear understanding and coverage of wave process.
  • Oversee and develop replenishment team across both shifts to ensure accuracy and effectiveness of replenishment team throughout the year especially during peak season.
  • Monitor and maintain item location assignment with focus on maximizing available locations and clean up of items utilizing multiple locations when demand is reduced.
  • Oversee and develop hospital team with focus on the efficiency of chase wave process to ensure order SLA is not impacted.
  • Partner with ops teams to maximize the active pick location percentage by running lean time and/or replen only waves with minimal interruption to day-to-day operations.
  • Investigate fulfillment shortages / unwaveable items to help avoid repetitive order cancellations.
  • Develop and implement wave planning strategies that align with business objectives and optimize order fulfillment.
  • Analyze order data, forecast demand, and create efficient waves for picking and packing operations.
  • Monitor wave performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency and throughput.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as receiving, shipping, and inventory control, to ensure smooth workflow and accurate inventory management.
  • Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant software to manage wave planning and track performance metrics.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure wave planning effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement process improvements and best practices to optimize wave planning and overall warehouse operations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Prepare and present reports on wave planning performance and other relevant metrics.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in wave planning and warehouse management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Proven experience in wave planning, warehouse operations, or a related field, preferably in a supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant software.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and warehouse best practices.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) is a plus.
