U.S. Manufacturing Operations & Launch Lead (Consultant / Contractor)

About Doodle Labs

Doodle Labs is a fast-growing technology company building high-performance wireless communications for the drone and unmanned systems ecosystem. Our technology enables reliable, high-bandwidth connectivity across airborne and mobile robotic platforms operating in complex environments.

We partner directly with leading drone OEMs, robotics companies, and defense organizations to deliver advanced networking solutions that power the next generation of autonomous systems. Our mission is to make connectivity for autonomous machines as reliable and ubiquitous as the internet itself.

About the Role

The US Manufacturing Operations & Launch Lead will lead the initiative to establish a US-based final assembly, test, and fulfillment hub for Doodle Labs’ wireless radio products.

In this role, you will work closely with operations, engineering, and manufacturing partners to ensure that Doodle Labs’ products meet BAA (Buy American Act) compliance requirements while maintaining seamless manufacturing integration with the company’s Singapore-based contract manufacturing partner.

You will oversee manufacturing partner selection, technical transfer, logistics design, and pilot production to ensure a successful launch of US-based manufacturing capabilities.

This is a high-impact opportunity to help establish domestic production infrastructure as Doodle Labs scales its manufacturing footprint.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the initiative to establish a US-based final assembly, test, and fulfillment hub
  • Execute the BAA “Cost of Components” compliance test to ensure assemblies meet the required domestic content threshold
  • Identify and onboard a US-based Contract Manufacturer (CM) capable of specialized RF calibration and mechanical assembly
  • Manage technical transfer of manufacturing processes, fixtures, and RF testing environments from Singapore to the US facility
  • Define and implement the Singapore-to-US kitting process, including customs optimization and WIP inventory ownership
  • Oversee First Article Inspection (FAI) and Golden Unit validation to ensure production parity between Singapore and US manufacturing
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams across engineering, operations, and external manufacturing partners to support production readiness

    What Success Looks Like

    • Successful establishment of a US-based final assembly and testing capability
    • Verified BAA compliance for domestic manufacturing requirements
    •  Smooth replication of calibration tooling and RF test environments between Singapore and the US
    • Successful pilot production run with validated product quality and process parity
    • A scalable manufacturing process enabling reliable domestic fulfillment

    Who You Are

    • 7+ years of experience in New Product Introduction (NPI), Manufacturing Engineering, or hardware manufacturing operations
    • Strong understanding of RF hardware systems, including frequency calibration and RF shielding considerations
    •  Experience working with contract manufacturers and global production partners
    •  Familiarity with manufacturing process transfer and pilot production launches
    •  Ability to coordinate complex cross-functional initiatives across engineering, operations, and supply chain teams
    •  Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience working with BAA/TAA compliance requirements and “Substantial Transformation” regulatory logic
    •  Experience transferring manufacturing from Asia-based production to US facilities
    • Background working with wireless communications, RF hardware, or embedded electronics
    •  Experience establishing or scaling hardware manufacturing operations in fast-growing technology companies

    Why Join Doodle Labs

    • Work on cutting-edge technology powering the future of autonomous systems
    • Collaborate with engineers and innovators building industry-leading connectivity solutions
    • Help establish a critical domestic manufacturing capability supporting the next generation of robotics and wireless networking

    Compensation & Benefits

Doodle Labs offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package built for people doing serious work.

    • Compensation: Competitive base salary, individual and company performance bonuses.
    • Health & Wellness: Medical, dental, and vision coverage. Plus One Medical, Teladoc, Talkspace, Health Advocate, Kindbody, and sponsored gym memberships

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

    • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
    • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
    • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
    • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
    • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
    • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
