About the Role
For this job, we are currently only hiring candidates based in the United States.
Ontra is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to help propel the future of legal tech AI using data.
The legal industry has remained fairly unchanged for years, however, recent advances in AI present a unique opportunity to change it. Now imagine, you combine the power of AI with a proprietary data set, and a legal network of skilled professionals, that's the opportunity waiting to be unleashed by the Staff Data Scientist.
The Staff Data Scientist will work with product stakeholders to identify areas where data insights can provide business value and will devise data projects that address those needs. When executing on these projects, the Data Scientist will be both hands-on and a technical lead: contributing and guiding other Data team members' efforts to uncover valuable insights from our legal data sets that inform product development and business strategy.
As you combine your data expertise with growing knowledge of Ontra's products and business, you also will lead efforts to define the future of how data will be used at Ontra to power business growth.

What You'll Bring
- Track record of delivering tangible impact: 6+ years experience manipulating data sets to get insights that drive business outcomes
- Ambition and Autonomy: You thrive in an environment where you require minimal direction/oversight for execution of projects. Opportunities to drive initiatives excite you
- Growth mindset: Just because things have been a certain way, doesn't mean they cannot change. You are persistent in the face of roadblocks, quickly identifying if a roadblock is worth persiting or if a change of direction will drive more impact.
- Continuous learning: You view feedback as a gift, and believe you will do your best work if you incorporate it into your skillset
- Servant Leader: Disagree and commit. You feel comfortable sharing feedback including constructive feedback, but once a decision is made you champion it.
