Position Summary

We are seeking a visionary and technically strong Sr. Software Engineer to lead the development of Mckesson Glide Health. You will have the opportunity to deliver high quality technology products/services in a hyper-growth environment. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in distributed systems design, preferably in AWS cloud, and have a strong passion in AI/ML and healthcare technology.

This role will focus on application architecture, software development, and cross-functional collaboration, while engaging directly with customers to solve problems in healthcare space. You will play a critical role in ensuring scalability, reliability, and innovation as we expand our impact on healthcare.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the engineering architecture runway, innovation roadmap, and priority setting.

  • Design, build, deploy, and maintain cloud-native solutions to optimize performance, availability, cost, compliance, and security.

  • Define and enforce software engineering best practices to ensure quality and regulatory compliance.

  • Research emerging technologies to enhance platform capabilities; champion AI/ML for automation and decision support.

  • Integrate AI/ML models into clinical and financial workflows to improve patient outcomes and provider efficiency.

  • Collaborate with Product and customer teams to align solutions with user needs.

  • Lead agile development, focusing on high-impact deliverables.

  • Mentor and grow a high-performing engineering team, support recruitment and onboarding.

  • Champion tech debt remediation and shift left security

Minimum Requirement

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.

Education

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.

Critical Skills

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.

  • 2+ years in health tech or regulated industries preferred.

  • Proven experience designing and scaling distributed systems in cloud environments (AWS preferred).

  • Expertise in cloud-native architecture, microservices, API development and container orchestration.

  • Proficiency in modern programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript) and frameworks.

  • Strong understanding of data privacy, security, and healthcare standards (e.g., HIPAA).

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, observability tools, and agile methodologies

  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with healthcare claims processing and regulatory compliance.

  • Experience integrating AI/ML models into production systems.

  • Ability to lead engineering teams and drive strategic initiatives.

Working Conditions

  • Remote work with occasional domestic travel (up to 10%).

  • Flexible hours to collaborate across time zones.

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$125,000 - $208,400
