Who is Rainforest?

Rainforest is an early stage payments-as-a-service startup that has developed a solution that makes monetizing payments for vertically focused software platforms fair and simple.

We focus on small-to-mid sized platforms that want to add value to their small business customers through embedded payments — and want to do so without adding operational or regulatory burdens or costs.

Led by a successful repeat fintech founder with deep knowledge of the industry, and with venture backing from a Top 10 VC firm, Rainforest is well positioned to make an impact in the payments-as-a-service space, and we're looking for new team members who want to be a part of this journey!

What are we looking for?

We’re hiring a Senior Events Manager to lead Rainforest’s event execution across industry events, private dinners and our own conference, Vertex.

This role is extremely unique and has a very high impact. Unlike typical B2B SaaS events roles, you won’t be spending your time managing booths at large, sterile trade shows. Instead, you’ll have the opportunity to work hand-in-hand with Senior Leadership and Industry leaders to build our own conference, Vertex, into the premier event and community for the vertical software space.

What are some of the high-impact opportunities you’ll tackle?

  • Own the planning and execution of our own bi-annual conference, Vertex: The Vertical Software Conference. Vertex, launched in September, is a one-day conference for ~350 operators in the vertical software space that we plan to run twice a year.

    • You will be directly responsible for finding a venue, managing external vendors to help execute, planning the event agenda and any activations, and all the day-of execution details that go into running a smooth event.

    • You’ll partner with Marketing and Senior Leadership to recruit speakers and sponsors for the event.

    • You’ll collaborate across Sales, Marketing, Partnerships and external stakeholders to ensure promotion and follow-up of the event is effective.

  • Identify, evaluate and decide which vertical specific events our Sales team should be attending and ensure they are properly equipped.

  • Work with Sales and Partnerships to identify opportunities to host smaller, private events (e.g. dinners, happy hours) in different cities for key prospects and partners.

  • Elevate our presence at larger Fintech conferences (e.g. Money2020) where possible.

  • Report on the impact of events towards lead generation, pipeline creation and overall company revenue

This opportunity is for you if you have / are:

  • 5+ years of experience in event marketing — ideally in B2B SaaS, fintech, or payments.

  • A proven track record of owning events from planning all the way through execution.

  • Comfortable managing numerous senior stakeholders, both internal and external.

  • Excellent organization and project management abilities.

  • Comfortable being both the strategist and executor; putting the larger plan in place while being the point person for day-of execution of events

  • High attention to detail, but is also always aware of the bigger picture of where the work fits into the overall marketing strategy

We offer a comprehensive health benefits package, unlimited paid time off, paid parental leave, a fun and flexible working environment, and continuously invest in our people and our culture.

If you require any accommodations throughout the pre-employment process, please contact our HR team at [email protected]

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
