Job Title: Senior Quality Engineer - Test Automation

Location: Remote (with monthly on-site travel)

Job Type: Full-time

About Us:

QualityWorks is a full-service technology consultancy that empowers businesses through smarter testing, innovative solutions, and a collaborative approach. We are looking for a Senior Quality Engineer with a strong background in test automation to join our dynamic team.

Job Description:

As a Senior Quality Engineer specializing in test automation, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software solutions. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated test frameworks, with a particular emphasis on Playwright (preferred) and Cypress.

In addition to building automation frameworks, you will create detailed manual test cases that serve as the foundation for automation. These tests will often need to be executed manually during the development process to validate functionality, provide rapid feedback, and ensure accuracy before automation is applied. This approach ensures robust coverage and a clear pathway from manual validation to automated execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute automated test scripts using Playwright.
  • Work independently on automation projects, taking ownership of end-to-end testing processes.
  • Act as a consultant to clients, providing expert advice on quality assurance best practices and automation strategies.
  • Lead small teams or project segments, demonstrating leadership in guiding junior engineers when necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in test automation using Playwright (preferred) and/or Cypress.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple testing projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in a consulting environment is a plus.
  • Strong leadership skills with the capability to guide and mentor team members.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Why Join Us?

You’ll be part of a forward-thinking team that values innovation and growth. We offer opportunities for professional development and the chance to work on impactful projects in a supportive and collaborative environment.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
