Coretelligent has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Manager of Security Operations to lead the teams that deliver Coretelligent’s client-facing CoreArmor managed security services. This is a strategic leadership role that offers the chance to work with cutting-edge tools and technologies while leveraging your extensive experience to shape and execute the Security Operations strategy.

The ideal candidate will bring a background as a current or former SOC Manager with hands-on technical experience and the ability to manage at both strategic and tactical levels. You will be deeply involved in day-to-day security operations and play a crucial role in hands-on technical work during critical incidents. This role requires a strong leader who can guide and develop high-performing teams while staying at the forefront of the latest security trends and emerging threats.

As a Senior Manager, you will be responsible for driving security operations success across a global team, ensuring optimal service delivery, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the global Security Operations Center (SOC) team, ensuring the successful delivery of CoreArmor managed detection and response services to clients.
  • Drive hands-on leadership during critical incidents, taking charge of technical aspects of incident response, analysis, and remediation to quickly and effectively resolve security events.
  • Provide senior-level mentorship and leadership to three distinct teams, focusing on skill development, technical growth, and ensuring the right staffing levels to meet operational needs.
  • Establish and track key security metrics and KPIs, leveraging your technical insight to identify areas for improvement and measure the effectiveness of security operations.
  • Develop and oversee the creation and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs), security policies, and internal/customer-facing processes to ensure consistency, compliance, and alignment with industry best practices.
  • Stay ahead of global security trends, emerging threats, and evolving best practices, using this knowledge to guide strategic decisions and hands-on interventions during critical security events.
  • Promote and ensure a customer-centric approach, maintaining strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders while driving high levels of service delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Provide strategic leadership to the security operations function while being actively involved in daily operational decisions, leading incident response efforts, and contributing to complex problem-solving.
  • Develop and implement long-term security operations strategies, including capacity planning, team development, and process improvements, to ensure scalable and efficient security operations.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of experience in security, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role managing a distributed security operations team, including experience managing or leading a SOC, with hands-on expertise in security tools, incident response, and technical operations.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, with a focus on technical and leadership mentorship.
  • Advanced certifications showcasing deep expertise in security (CISSP, CISA, CISM, etc.).
  • Technical security certifications (CySA+, PenTest+, GIAC, CEH, OSCP, etc.) with direct experience implementing and utilizing these skills in a live environment.
  • Extensive experience with SIEM/XDR tools (Taegis XDR, Alienvault) and hands-on involvement in managing, configuring, and responding to alerts.
  • In-depth understanding of the vulnerability management process and a proven track record of mitigating vulnerabilities in a live operational environment.
  • Experience with incident response, breach remediation, and managing cybersecurity risks, taking a hands-on role in leading response efforts.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to manage diverse internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Proven ability to make high-stakes decisions and work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, balancing both operational leadership and technical expertise.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience managing security operations and client relationships in an MSP or similar environment.
  • Expertise in security reporting, data analysis, and using metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Cloud certifications (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and hands-on experience securing cloud environments.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
