About the Team:
We’re looking for a Senior Leave of Absence & Accommodations Specialist to join our People team at Relativity Space, reporting to the Manager, Leave of Absence & Benefits. Our People team is responsible for supporting Relativity’s best-in-class team, as well as strategically managing our hiring pipelines to help us find the very best to join our company. This role will be a key driver in supporting employees through the leave, accommodation, and workers’ compensation processes, while also contributing to the development of scalable leave-related procedures and documentation and other total rewards projects. The ideal candidate is an empathetic, detail-oriented professional with a strong background in leave management and compliance, who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative and evolving environment.
About the Role:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all leave of absence, accommodation, and workers’ compensation matters. You will manage a high-volume caseload of complex leave, accommodation, and workers’ compensation claims while maintaining a high level of customer service, documentation accuracy, and compliance.
- Manage relationships and case information with our third-party leave administrators and disability platforms, ensuring accurate and timely coordination of all leave cases, accuracy, data integrity, and timely updates.
- Evaluate and administer reasonable accommodation requests in accordance with the ADA, leading the interactive process with employees and internal stakeholders to determine effective and compliant solutions.
- Oversee and coordinate workers’ compensation claims in partnership with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and external carriers, ensuring timely reporting and employee support throughout the claim process.
- Lead efforts to design, refine, and document leave of absence workflows, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and employee-facing resources to drive consistency and scalability.
- Collaborate with the Benefits Specialist to support with benefits-related tasks as needed while also supporting additional Total Rewards and cross-functional initiatives as needed.
About You:
- 3–5 years of experience in leave of absence administration, accommodations, and HR operations.
- Strong knowledge of FMLA, ADA, CFRA, PDL, and other relevant federal, multi-state, and local leave and accommodation laws.
- Experience managing workers’ compensation claims and partnering with safety or risk teams.
- Payroll coordination experience and understanding of pay impacts during leave (e.g., disability offsets, taxability, timekeeping).
- Proven ability to manage a complex caseload with exceptional attention to detail, time management, and follow-through in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a high level of discretion and empathy.
Nice to haves but not required:
- Experience using Workday or similar HRIS platforms.
- Exposure to aerospace, manufacturing, or startup environments.
- BS/BA degree in Human Resources, Risk Management, or a related field.
