Short Description

Do you have a passion for people and code? Are you inspired by our challenge to help developers create amazing apps on our Dynatrace Platform? Then we’d love to hear from you!

With the recent release of the Dynatrace AppEngine and Dynatrace Apps, we’ve introduced a vast range of possibilities for unleashing the power of our customer’s data by creating custom, compliant, and intelligent data-driven apps. Our mission is to ensure a delightfully hassle-free app development journey for Dynatrace Apps, and we’ve only just begun.

Your team

You’ll join an international team of advocacy professionals anchored in the Dynatrace Platform. We proactively promote, onboard, and enable both internal teams and external developers to understand, adopt, and get onboarded on the topic of Dynatrace App development, AppEngine, our Strato design system, JavaScript SDKs, and more.

We collaborate closely with groups across Dynatrace – from Product Management to Pre-Sales and Support – ensuring that new platform concepts are well understood and that users can transition smoothly to our latest innovations.

We’re looking for an experienced Developer Advocate to join our team. Our team philosophy is to focus on each other’s strengths while supplementing each other with different and overlapping skills. Although having most of the skills below in your repertoire would be a bonus, we don’t expect you to tick all the boxes.

Your role at Dynatrace

What you’ll do:

  • Help developers get started using and developing on our Dynatrace Platform, focusing mainly on Dynatrace Apps.
  • Collect and relay developer feedback, while advocating for the developer audience.
  • Give talks at online and in-person events to raise awareness and grow adoption.
  • Create varied content, from blog posts and tutorials to videos, course material, and documentation.
  • Improve the developer onboarding experience by preparing and holding workshops.
  • Create demo code and snippets to aid the developer learning experience.
  • Help support our growing developer community, ensuring that our end-users get answers and help in a timely manner.
What will help you succeed

What we’re looking for:

  • Approachable and empathetic personality.
  • Presentation skills, or a great desire to get better at giving talks.
  • Developer community experience, either in-person or online.
  • Experience creating and editing technical videos.
  • Writing skills, with an emphasis on technical content.
  • Experience writing blog posts, tutorials, and similar instructional content.
  • Experience as a front end developer (preferably React and TypeScript)
  • 3+ years of previous developer relations experience.
Why you will love being a Dynatracer
  • Dynatrace is a leader in unified observability and security.
  • We provide a culture of excellence with competitive compensation packages designed to recognize and reward performance.
  • Our employees work with the largest cloud providers, including AWS, Microsoft, and Google Cloud, and other leading partners worldwide to create strategic alliances.
  • The Dynatrace platform uses cutting-edge technologies, including our own Davis hypermodal AI, to help our customers modernize and automate cloud operations, deliver software faster and more securely, and enable flawless digital experiences.
  • Over 50% of the Fortune 100 companies are current customers of Dynatrace.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
