Director, Strategic Partnerships

Slickdeals is looking for a Director, Strategic Partnerships that is self-motivated, enjoys working in the fast-paced online space and is looking to utilize their existing business experience and apply it at a rapidly growing company. The Director, Strategic Partnerships will be involved in all aspects of creation of long-term value for the organization which include optimizing current partner relationships, negotiating new partnerships, finding new revenue opportunities and executing deals. THE ROLE:
- Research, segment and prioritize all of the strategic partnership opportunities whether commercial partnerships or M&A
- Identify, negotiate and secure prioritized strategic partnership opportunities
- Manage and grow the strategic partnerships including content syndication deals, content aggregation deals, strategic marketing partnerships and agency partnerships
- Focus on establishing and growing the Hearst partnership (minority investor in Slickdeals) and realizing the synergies
- Collaborate with Finance team and assist with corporate development activities including evaluating and executing minority investments, majority investments, M&A
- Assist in structuring key agreements for all departments of the business (e.g. tech, product, sales, marketing, finance) and shepherd through the legal process
- Collaborate closely with our legal team as one of their main customers
- Collaborate with management on strategic planning and forecasting
- Provide regular updates (daily, weekly, monthly) on partner performance to management
- Travel with team members to on-site partner meetings and select industry events to represent Slickdeals
THE CANDIDATE:
- Experienced dealmaker in prospecting, negotiating and securing partnerships that advance strategic and financial goals and create win/win situations with partners
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in fast-paced deadline-driven environment
- Creative problem solver, thinks outside of the box and can develop recommendations to grow partnerships
- Independent, takes initiative, enthusiastic, eager to learn
- Comfort with interacting with senior executives and maintaining a professional demeanor
- Ability to learn quickly regarding new tools and platforms
- An analytical, problem solving and results-driven approach to challenges and opportunities
- Previous experience doing deals at large digital/Internet companies whether commercial partnerships and/or M&A/Investments
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, marketing or related field
- 8+ years of work experience with at least 5+ years of experience in business development, investment banking, consulting, private equity in the digital/Internet arena
- Proven track record of negotiating and securing strategic partnerships
- Ability to think strategically and create win/win situations for both sides of the partnership
- Deep understanding of digital trends, business models and economic arrangements
- Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task
- Strong communication and delivery skills in writing and speaking, both internally and externally
- Skilled in collaborative management environment and ability to work and communicate with members of various teams
- Must be metrics driven with above average general computer and email proficiency (Google suite). Must also be proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working with Top 1000 digital/Internet company
- Extensive network of industry contacts (Internet, ecommerce, digital media or agencies)
- Deep understanding of and passion for e-commerce
- Existing relationships with VPs or C-level executive contacts in the online media industry
