Senior Project Leader, Spaceflight Hardware at The Aerospace Corporation

Responsibilities
The Project/ Senior Project Leader will be responsible will be responsible for the planning and execution of prototype projects for the xLab, Aerospace's experiments lab.
You will lead and work with multi-functional, cross-organizational teams to design, build, test and operate testbeds, ground/air/space-based payloads and sensors and small satellite systems. This role also includes helping to plan and execute both short and long term projects throughout the Corporation and ensuring product development best practices are followed.
Additional duties include interfacing with program office and customer personnel, managing new business/proposals and working with program offices, labs, contracts, finance and engineering teams in the development of program plans and pricing for new and on-going business activity.
Key Functions

Responsible for the timely delivery of specific prototype project deliverables in accordance with project and contractual requirements

Develop and maintain accurate plans for assigned project technical, schedule and cost performance

Work with project teams to ensure work is performed in accordance with mission/project requirements

Establish risk management modules for assigned projects; help team identify, mitigate and manage project risks

Manage road-blocks, work-arounds and unexpected events on projects to maintain optimal project performance

Work with project teams to ensure project technical and product assurance requirements are met, including tracking and resolution of nonconformances; negotiate changes/waivers/interpretations of requirements with customer personnel

Work with supply chain on timely procurement to meet project needs

Create and present periodic status reviews to Customer and Aerospace management; support the creation of milestone/gate review packages for assigned projects

Work with assigned teams to develop project cost and schedule plans for new business proposals

Work with the Office of Product Management in the execution of projects in accordance with Aerospace policies and procedures

Required for Project Leader

Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or equivalent
-
8 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience, including multi-disciplinary systems engineering and/or program management environments

Experience in spaceflight hardware requirements

Specific experience in project or product team leadership, preferably for spaceflight hardware

Working knowledge of Microsoft Project

Familiarity with database management systems

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Exhibits exceptionally high level of innovation, creativeness, and initiative

Demonstrated ability work in a team environment and with all levels of personnel

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance

Same requirements as a Project Leader noted above, in addition to:

Master's degree in a STEM field or equivalent

12 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience, including multi-disciplinary systems
Preferred for Project Leader or Senior Project Leader

Advanced degree in a STEM field or equivalent

Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the US government, is preferred. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
