ABOUT THE ROLE:

In this role you will partner with Managers and oversee Associates. Your primary responsibilities will include strategic plan development as well as overseeing and supporting implementation and execution of plans. You will also maintain day-to-day oversight of Associates' workload.

Pre-Planning Preparation

  • Retain proficiency in and train Associate in all necessary research / media tools: DDS (rankers & broadcast reports), Kantar (competitive), ispot (competitive), Xpert (Reach & Frequencies), MRI (Audience profiling), WM tools (Benchmarks, Crossmedia, Commspoint, etc)
  • Aid Associate in interpreting data & conveying meaningful takeaways to internal and external teams within strategy sessions and other meetings
  • Develop insightful POVs based on client requests
  • Review Pre-Planning packet that Associate develops prior to client delivery

Integrated Plan Development

  • Support Manager in translating strategic campaign goals established by leadership into sound & research driven tactical recommendations that encompass all media
  • Participate in strategy development determining audience profile and target demographics based on client brief, directors' strategic outlines and research (inclusive of Momentum studies) as part of Rapid Growth / Purchase Journey Planning approach
  • Participate in meetings with A&I, translating findings into meaningful insights used to build plans
  • Develop Campaign Arc to holistically summarize media plan audiences, flighting and beats across all mediums (broadcast, digital & audio) and ensure media components stay within those boundaries as the plan evolves
  • Create Campaign parameters document for client issuance
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills, proposing innovative ways to use media to drive awareness and intent across all mediums
  • Partner closely with digital team to ensure strategic alignment of plan objectives and accurate reflection of those strategies on integrated calendar and within all areas of integrated media plan
  • Participate in brainstorm meetings to come up with ideas, cross platform as well as by discipline
  • Review prototypes' media strategy and spending data to help inform appropriate media mixes
  • Collaborate with national and local investment teams gathering costs & ratings to plan out media across all broadcast channels, recommending best use of inventory (Upfront, Scatter, ADUs etc.)
  • Keep abreast of changes in the broadcast landscape in order to recommend best media opportunities available for each flight / film
  • Track upfront documents to ensure plans account for all pre-ordered media
  • Determine optimal media mix across Prime, Fringe, Syndication, Cable, Sports, Hispanic (National & Local), Local TV, Audio (National & Local)
    • Evaluate media landscape unique to each title including consumption habits, target demographics, unit length mixes, competitive, national vs local box office potential, tracking needs, weight distribution, national vs local, etc.
    • Evaluate combined reach, frequency, efficiency & impact across all broadcast properties
    • Evaluate breakevens to support national vs local recommendations as needed

Execution

  • Steward plan throughout campaign and oversee actualization process
  • Review buy specs to ensure alignment with plan strategy across all mediums (Cable, Sports, Hispanic, Local TV & Audio)
  • Actualize plan with completed buys ensuring accuracy and partnering with Associate and Manager to make recommendations for adjustments as needed prior to client delivery
  • Report delivery across multiple demos as requested by client using factors and conversions
  • Partner with Associate and local buying team to recommend local markets across campaign flight
  • Oversee accuracy & issuance of spend to dates to client's finance group across campaign flight
  • Serve as primary point person while partnering with Managers and Associates to lead tracking drills and development of holdover recommendations
  • Maintain updated documents for regular issuances to client throughout flight including media plan, calendar, % audience targeting, % weight run & ad hoc research or plan delivery requests
  • Retain ownership of budget at all times, updating change sheet in real time as a priority, reflecting adjustments promptly to ensure always accurate spending tracking
  • Maintain strong, collaborative, productive working relationships across investment, digital, non-broadcast and client teams, as well as reps to create seamless communication and ensure media strategies are delivered
  • Manage budgets across all WM as well as Non-WM partners covering OOH, Print, Newspaper, Canada, Puerto Rico, Digital & investment teams to maintain holistic view of campaign spending
  • Keep track of flow of media activity proactively at all times, updating Manager as needed
  • Stay abreast of changes affecting plan in flight (pre-emptions, publicity/talent appearances, ratings performance, finale and premiere announcements, sell out levels, scatter premiums etc.) and partner with Manager and investment teams on best way to address and position to client
  • Demonstrate ownership & knowledge of all aspects of media plans as well as the ability to defend rationale for all placements
  • Proactively anticipate and prep for client needs prior to requests coming down in order to meet tight deadlines
  • Review Associate's work for accuracy prior to client delivery

 

Cross-media training

  • Attend publisher meetings across digital and offline partners
  • Work with Digital Sr. Associate on strategy sessions across digital and offline tools
  • Find opportunities to cross-train and collaborate with Digital Sr. Associate


Miscellaneous

  • Participate in upfront planning process as needed
  • Mentor, train and support Associates on an on-going basis
