Facilities Architectural Project Planner

The Facilities Architectural Project Planner will be responsible for conceptual architectural programming and planning through design development of facilities projects in a busy transitioning corporate environment. Project sizes range from thousands to multi-million dollars in value. Projects include renovation of offices, laboratories, SCIFs, auditoriums, conference rooms and development of interior finishes. The project planner will be capable of developing on-the-spot sketches of verbal concepts into understandable and executable options. The project planner will be responsible for organizational block planning based upon corporate guidelines for office square footage and be capable of taking the conceptual ideas through execution for multiple/concurrent projects.
Strategic Planning:
- Interface with multiple customers and stakeholders to identify and document workplace requirements
- Reconcile and transition business program requirements into physical space design with an emphasis on activity-based workplace strategies, collaboration and space optimization
- Prepare conceptual 2-D and 3-D solutions in response to complex program requirements
- Develop options into executable block plans that fulfill the determined relevant requirements and functional goals
- Prepare Rough Order of Magnitude cost estimates for proposed solutions
- Understand new workplace environment methods and adapt to corporate cultures
- Provide technical expertise to the Facilities Planning Office in formulating strategic and tactical corporate and campus plans as they relate to space resource allocation and workplace behavioral patterns
- Review and recommend project approval at various phases, with particular emphasis on master planning, pre-schematic and schematic phases of individual projects
- Prepare and make presentations to Facilities and Corporate Management of strategic planning initiatives
Space Planning
- Prepare strategic stack planning and block planning scenarios using a Computer Aided Facilities Management program (CAFM)
- Aptitude in management of personnel moves, space request and swing space utilization
Design Support:
- Assist the Design and Engineering team in the development of space planning, preliminary design and construction documents in meeting customer requirements while maintaining compliance with applicable codes, regulations and Corporate standards
- Engage with agencies as needed to ensure code compliance measures are reflective of code requirements
- Experience in preparation of color and material boards and other presentation materials
Leadership
- Provide leadership for change management

Required II:
- 2 or more years’ experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or related field
- Experience with Corporate Facilities Construction Project Management, Design or related field
- Experience with corporate office programming/planning
- Knowledge of building, fire, electrical, mechanical codes
- Experience in Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project
- Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD
- Experience with construction cost estimating
- Ability to work under minimal supervision, to self-initiate activities, and to work within timelines
- Demonstrated flexibility and ability to adapt to changing organizational needs
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple and concurrent tasks and projects
- Highly effective interpersonal skills with internal and external organizations
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance issued by the U.S. Government and U.S. Citizenship is required.
Required III:
- 5 or more years’ experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 3 or more years’ experience with a Master’s Degree in Architecture or related field
- Experience with Corporate Facilities Construction Project Management, Design or related field
- Experience with corporate office programming/planning
- Knowledge of building, fire, electrical, mechanical codes
- Experience in Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project
- Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD
- Experience with construction cost estimating
- Ability to work under minimal supervision, to self-initiate activities, and to work within timelines

Preferred:
- Licensed Architect or Engineer
- Experience with Sketch up, Photoshop, Rhino, 3D Studio Max, V-Ray, In-Design or other imaging, rendering or 3D modeling software
- Experience with coordinating AV media, security and access control, modular/systems furniture, and network systems
- Familiarity with dry laboratory design
- Experience with Archibus or similar CAFM program
- Experience with planning and implementation of DOD Closed & Collateral Secret in accordance with NISPOM design and construction requirements.
- Experience with planning and implementation of Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) in accordance with ICD 705 design and construction requirements.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENTS
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to use a computer to complete assignments.
- Ability to communicate with individuals and groups in person, by phone and telepresence.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may visit locations with varying temperatures and floor surfaces, and may be exposed to seasonal elements.
- Intermittent travel to gain access to work areas and buildings.
- Frequent on-site inspections which may include climbing ladders and removing raised floor tiles.
- May involve exposure to construction noise.
