As a Director of Project Management at Sure, you will help build and oversee a team of Project Management Team Leads in coordinating enterprise-level projects. This role provides the opportunity to lead the growth of our Project Management Organization by establishing processes, tools, and best practices across the organization. Day to day, you will be guiding, troubleshooting, and scaling effective project management teams that interact with clients, internal teams, and senior leadership across the business. As a leader in the organization, you will also help to cultivate a positive and collaborative working environment focused on continuous improvement, growth, and teamwork.

What you'll do:

  • Directly manage, coach, and support a distributed team of Project Management Team Leads
  • Provide operational excellence by leading and evaluating processes and tools so that our teams can move as efficiently as possible
  • Foster an environment of successful delivery and continuous improvement through regular feedback and process refinement
  • Oversee and guide teams in creating and maintaining comprehensive project and process documentation
  • Effectively manage communication across all levels of management, both internally and externally
  • Identify and communicate cross-team business impacts and dependencies of project progress, decisions, and risks
  • Work with senior leadership to establish regular reporting for executive management on the status, risk, and progress of projects and key initiatives
  • Act as the PMO hiring manager with a focus on attracting, developing, and retaining high performing talent

What we're looking for:

  • 7+ years of experience in project management, with 5+ years in a people management capacity
  • Experience supporting geographically distributed teams
  • Experience building and successfully delivering enterprise-level projects at a client-facing or SaaS organization in an Agile environment
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive projects concurrently
  • Passion for developing, mentoring, and growing a team, with a natural ability to bring people together and spark collaboration
  • An ability to thrive in ambiguous environments and be a driving force in shaping the organization, developing processes, and making key strategic decisions
  • An ability to build strong working relationships, especially with engineering, product management, and business teams

Bonus experience:

  • Scrum Master, CAPM, or PMP-certified
  • Experience working in a startup environment
  • Insurance industry knowledge

How does your team reward individual success?

We have a really kudos-giving culture (++'s, shoutouts, etc.). Each engineer's strong suits are discovered, and the work is arranged around what we know well or are excited to learn. For me, the biggest reward is getting to do work that I love to do, which happens to be very math-centered. We get to become subject matter experts in areas we enjoy.
