THE PURPOSE:


This Control Systems team manages the software design specifications, the product requirements and priorities, and the reporting to the rest of the business; as well as managing the release of the software to embedded and cloud systems.  

Ultimately, we will design reliable, scalable, real-time (or near-real time) applications that make Virgin Hyperloop One a reality.

A Technical Project Manager is a needed addition within VHO and will partner with systems engineering, software engineering, and hardware engineering teams to help determine product requirements, feasibility, usability, product flow, and devise a plan to test


THE ROLE:

  • Define and drive the product goals, scorecards, and KPIs by which we’ll measure its success
  • Define product and software requirements in a well-documented scope
  • Maintain a prioritized product backlog and conduct sprint meetings (grooming, planning, retrospectives, etc.)
  • Help run and refine our product development process
  • Set and communicate project timelines, release schedules, and reset expectations when things change
  • Identify and document detailed product requirements, user stories, and design specifications
  • Run scrum meetings as needed
  • Conduct impact analysis on change requests both technical and functional
  • Interview product stakeholders
  • Work within the organization to develop, deploy, and drive industry standards
  • Consult with engineering technical staff to resolve business/technical issues and needs


THE CANDIDATE: 

  • You’re an enthusiastic professional that gets excited about solving complex problems with a desire to exceed expectations
  • You’re an excellent communicator (both spoken and written), with the ability to write clear and concise technical software documentation including requirements and design specifications
  • You have a high standards bar for quality of a products design and user experience
  • You can get past multiple obstacles and have no issue making important decisions based on scarce or incomplete data
  • You think deeply and have a mindset that is not afraid to make mistakes, or try new approaches to keep learning new things
  • You’re an experienced technical professional who has worked with engineering teams and can easily build relationships
  • You’re not afraid to be hands on to enrich yourself in the product scope and end user needs (both internal and external) 

MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other applicable fields
  • Experience in defining product requirements, features and user stories
  • Experience writing technical documentation including software product requirements and design specifications
  • Experience using agile methodology to run backlog grooming, sprint planning, standups
  • Experience in an organization that designs and develops software products internally or externally
  • Experience with agile software development as a product manager or scrum lead
  • Experience with Requirements Validation and Verification, per ARP-4754 or equivalent
  • Experience with System Integration


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other applicable fields
  • Experience as a Software Product Manager or Software Product Owner
  • Experience with embedded software applications
  • Experience with autonomous vehicles, high speed rail, performance automotive or aerospace software
  • Professional experience in software engineering and/or software product management
  • Exposure to Flight Control Laws, Control Systems Architecture, Control Electronics
  • Exposure to Ground or flight test, Hardware In the Loop
