Manager, Product Analytics

The Manager, Product Analytics provides thought leadership, vision and direction to organize the data analytics function for the entire Product team. You will build and own the function from the ground up and will be responsible for deriving, analysing and communicating relevant and actionable data intelligence regarding product adoption and utilization, user behavior, segmentation, etc. and implements tools and strategies to translate raw data into valuable business insights.

This position requires strong logical reasoning skills and business intelligence experience as well as a deep familiarity with product and user behavior data. The ability to communicate effectively is essential, including proactively developing and maintaining stakeholder and consultative relationships with key stakeholders, identifying and addressing data analytics needs, and identifying potential initiatives that will drive impact for our Product teams and customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and build out the Product Analytics discipline; develop repeatable processes and reusable artifacts
  • Work hand-in-hand with Product Managers (PMs) throughout the Product Lifecycle and communicate the impact of what we build & what we’ve learned to stakeholders around the company
  • Work with PMs to formulate the right questions so the data we collect is meaningful & actionable
  • Prioritizing the most important questions so we use our analysis bandwidth efficiently
  • Design experiments (e.g. A/B tests), instrumentation & reporting plans
  • Consult with Data Engineers to ensure raw data will be captured in the right format for analysis
  • Add instrumentation to our apps to track engagement as needed
  • Be self-sufficient; build custom KPIs that our analytics platforms don’t already capture, as needed
  • Build-out baseline analytics reporting across our existing products & features to help answer common/general questions
  • Define & build complex SQL queries & reports for new products & features
  • Analyze data into useable information and actionable insights for Product Managers
  • Make recommendations based on the insights you uncover - new features, product enhancements, UX changes

What you’ll need:

  • 8+ years work experience in a quantitative field or equivalent educational experience
  • 1+ years of experience in software/tech industry, preferably SaaS
  • 5+ years in data analytics and/or business intelligence (working with Product teams a plus)
  • Highly motivated, proactive and able to solve diverse problems efficiently
  • Strong Experience writing advanced SQL queries and working with relational databases
  • Power user of excel (VBA), Access, Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience using BI and/or visualization tools such as, Tableau, Domo, etc.
  • Proven history of decision making excellence and cross-functional influence through insights
  • Extensive experience with Google Analytics is required
  • Experience calculating and tracking product metrics (e.g. M/DAU, usage breadth/depth, engagement funnels, etc.)
  • Data Science experience (e.g. Machine Learning, Predictive Analysis) is a plus
  • Experience hiring, managing, and building a team is a big plus
