At Sidebench we operate in empowered product teams that are purpose built to solve hard problems in ways that work for our clients, that their customers love, and make the world a better place. As the Product Operations Manager you will have the unique opportunity to work directly with the VP of Product to manage the Product Operations function enabling Sidebench’s Product, Design, and Engineering teams to operate efficiently while empowering the Business Development and Account management teams to close and expand on new relationships.
In this cross-functional management role, you will collaborate with every team at Sidebench and act as a servant leader by managing the core systems and processes at the intersection of Sales and Product. You will own the proposal process and you’ll manage our systems that enable knowledge transfer, historical reference, impact cases, and client reviews. You’ll also work closely with the Director of Finance and our partner teams to manage actual time vs forecasted availability of our core team and contract/partner teams so that we appropriately allocate work to the right talent.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Sizing, Scoping, and Proposing new or expanding opportunities: You’ll collaborate with the Product, Design, Engineering, Business Development, and Account Management teams to define proposals for new or expanding product opportunities. This is a core function of the business and is a key driver of revenue for Sidebench that you will manage directly.
Forecasting of core team and partner teams capacity: It’s critically important for us to track our teams capacity so that we don’t over allocate work to them and critically important to know when we have available capacity in advance so that we can make sure we’re bringing on new opportunities that can match that capacity. In this role you’ll work closely with the Director of Finance to pull these reports and develop insights and actions to surface to the rest of the business.
Staffing, Team Engagement, and Skill Building: You’ll collaborate with the Manager of Staffing & Recruiting to identify roles that need to be filled and help to screen candidates to bring on new talent. Once we’ve brought on new talent you’ll support onboarding them to Sidebench best practices, manage their access to tools and documentation, manage our talent community, and collaborate with the Partner & VP of Product on managing a consistent learning curriculum to help advance each person’s skill set.
Identify opportunities and manage risks: You’ll oversee our Accounts & Product Pulse Check process where you’ll work closely with each of the Product Managers to check in on a weekly basis regarding new opportunities and/or risks that have identified and need to be surfaced to the VP of Product, Director of Finance, and Director of Accounts.
Identify gaps and design efficient systems to solve for them: You’ll be a master at understanding where there are opportunities to improve systems and processes and you’ll create compelling and efficient solutions to improve the areas that are weakest.
Outcomes Driven: You’ll have a proven track record that shows you thrive by leading with outcomes, understanding the core levers of a business model, and have a desire to participate in thought leadership in order to be better positioned to drive and inspire our team and our client partners. The concept of KPIs, leading and lagging indicators, and the ability to articulate how your contributions have made a measurable difference in such is a must.
Proactive Anticipator: You skate to where the puck is because you know what is coming and you know you need to be ahead of it. People would describe you as the type of person who can see around corners or someone who has the ability to almost predict the future.
Empathetic Communicator: This role is highly cross-functional so people should describe you as empathetic and as an excellent communicator. You should have the ability to really understand the person, their problems, and be able to “walk a mile in their shoes.” You’ll know how people are feeling with their current assignments and capacity, what they are passionate about, and what products they would do the best with.
Organized Executor:You consider yourself a master of effectively identifying, prioritizing, and managing multiple work streams simultaneously in a dynamic and rapidly-changing environment and crushing your timelines and project plans.
Analytical & Inquisitive: You’ll need to have a superior ability to synthesize diverse and complex information and data to help design elegant strategies, solutions, workflows, and procedures that are presentable to all stakeholders.
Self Motivated, Level Headed & Master Prioritizer: You must be a master at time management with a keen ability to prioritize the most important problems while also improving procedures, processes, and systems. Ideally you’re a creative but systematic thinker who can develop solutions within deadlines while being perceived as calm and composed in the face of challenging scenarios and when under pressure/deadlines.
High Leverage Product Operations:Creating, training, and implementing effective processes to bridge communication and efficiency between the Product/Design/Engineering departments and the BD/Strategy team by designing best practices and processes that'll last through 2022 and beyond.
Optimizing Talent + Resources: Ensuring that the team operates at the ideal utilization rate of 75%; managing our Contractor Gross Margins, recruiting & hiring A players, and retaining our incredible talent. You’ll also naturally be able to raise flags and make adjustments to maintain our team's success and hit our key metrics when you feel we need to.
High Quality Proposals and Documentation: Our Client Partners, Business Development, Account Management, and Product Teams will be wowed by your proposals, statements of work, client facing presentations, and your focus on detail and quality.
