General Description:

The Payroll Specialist will process full cycle, bi-weekly and off-cycle payrolls in UKG Pro for the entire HRL organization including Union, hourly, salaried and executive employees. This essential role will support the entire HRL organization by being an approachable and friendly communicator with great interpersonal skills and professional judgment who enjoys cultivating positive business relationships with internal and external customers. The Payroll Specialist is a highly organized team player with exceptional time management skills, a multitasker with impeccable attention to detail, with a proven ability to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Together with our Payroll Assistant, Payroll Administrator and reporting directly to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Specialist will add to our extraordinary team by maintaining ethical standards, unassailable integrity and reliability able to treat confidential information with discretion. In this role, critical thinking will be demonstrated through regular reporting, ad-hoc data analysis and via self-driven initiative and problem-solving/troubleshooting skills. Our team is committed to long-term development and a continuous learner, open to coaching, will be essential to the Payroll Specialist success.


Essential Duties:

Prepare and process bi-weekly transaction payrolls for approximately 900 employees across multiple states in the United States

Collaborate with HR, Benefits and Management teams to support accurate and timely payroll delivery

Utilize various software platforms to create reports to provide data to Finance, HR, FP&A and management teams on both a regular and ad hoc basis

Prepare fundamental monthly journal entries for payroll transactions

Conduct regular payroll platform audits to include multi-state tax compliance and employee data configuration

Provide clerical support for taxation, incoming mail, tax agency notices, and HRIS/Payroll system issue resolution

Support various annual external audit processes with data collection and deadline adherence

Work closely with the Payroll Administrator and Payroll Manager to provide the best in support to our internal and external customers

Keep up to date on changes in payroll and labor law rules and regulations to ensure compliance

 

Required Skills:

A minimum of two years of payroll processing experience in a multi-state environment

Working knowledge of payroll requirements including, CA Overtime rules, CA Wage regulations, as well as state and federal tax codes

Background in Payroll/HRIS systems utilization – UKG Pro (formerly UltiPro) is preferred

Confident skills with Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint and Word. Intermediate skills with Excel with particular emphasis on VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables.

 

Required Education:

High School Diploma

Bachelor’s Degree preferred

 

Special Requirements:

US Citizenship

100% onsite in Westlake, regular business hours availability, M-F 9am-5pm

Ability to travel from location to location as needed with little notice to support in person Audits or to deliver urgent payroll deliverables.


Compensation:

The pay range for this position is $36.79 - $44.87 per hour + bonus + benefits.
