A hands-on, visionary VP of SFR Acquisitions who will lead AvantStay’s Brokerage, Real Estate Fund, and Investment teams to build the world’s first end-to-end STR-focused investment, transaction and management platform. We are looking for an experienced real estate leader and investment professional to develop a best-in-class acquisition and transaction machine for sourcing, evaluating, financing, developing, and managing new, existing, and build-to-rent single-family residential properties for STR hospitality use. With a focus on innovation, scale, and hypergrowth, this leader will unlock STRs as the next asset class to institutionalize.

What You'll Do

  • Build and develop a world-class SFR Acquisition team, defining processes and systems to support your team 
  • Design team structure to optimize investment performance
  • Ensure proper execution of all acquisition transactions including market analysis, underwriting, feasibility, and due diligence studies, business plans, ROI analysis, or capital allocation strategies
  • Lead market research efforts geared towards understanding and validating key demand fundamentals that support the underwriting of newly sourced homes
  • Build structured market expansion strategy that meets both corporate growth goals and investment fund objectives
  • Develop and nurture relationships with brokers, developers, private equity firms, hedge funds, and other potential sellers to source potential new acquisition targets
  • Cultivate and grow builder and developer relationships to generate new investment opportunities and to establish programmatic relationships with select high-performing partners to develop multiple projects on a recurring and sustained basis
  • Interact with brokers or potential buyers with respect to any sale of assets, including providing or making available diligence materials, financial materials, or other information with respect to the properties
  • Drive accurate underwriting to achieve superior investment results
  • Define, build, & iterate on software & platforms to help acquire homes more quickly, more efficiently, and to deliver a successful financial outcome
  • Collaborate with internal AvantStay teams to ensure the success of your team
  • Apply processes to new markets as they open, working cross-functionally to lead market expansion through heavy regulatory and compliance environments
  • Travel to core and potential expansion markets on an as-needed basis; works collaboratively with local field teams to drive peak investment performance
  • Prepare presentation materials for both internal and client-related meetings

What You'll Bring

  • Real Estate Licensing required
  • Brokerage Licensing preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in Real Estate; experience with SFRs required, and experience with hospitality assets desired
  • 4+ years managing a team
  • Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Finance, Business Operations, Real Estate) 
  • Investment experience including, value-add, and opportunistic investment strategies 
  • Deep knowledge of real estate valuation, travel trends, hospitality, hotels, tourism and the short-term / vacation rental market
  • Strategic mindset to identify opportunities that align with larger company goals
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present ideas, instructions and information effectively, both orally and in writing
