About the job

The VP, Strategy has channel oversight and drives the overall team vision and direction for the Outsourced CMO team, focusing on channel expansion, scalability, training, professional development and efficiency.

 

Primary Objectives:

 

  • Leadership: Drive success for both channel and organizational goals
  • Management: Provide goals, objectives, metrics and associated structure for success
  • Education and Training: Scalable training and education program for new employees and continuing education for legacy strategists
  • Innovation: Drive channel innovation via processes, offerings and vision
  • Quality Control: Ensure overall channel quality control
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross channel directors and executive team
  • Budgeting and financials: Ensure channel solvency and profitability

 

Responsibilities:

 

Leadership (20%)

  • Manage channel vision and mores to create an engaged and self managing culture
  • Provide channel inspiration via industry knowledge and learning opportunities
  • Empower senior strategists and advisors to drive channel success
  • Instill team mantra of trust, transparency and accountability
  • Own full employee lifecycle and career development + growth Management (20%)
  • Provide overarching goals and performance objectives to drive excellence
  • Ensure clear, attainable but challenging performance standards
  • Provide channel with adequate resources and tools to perform job functions
  • Manage channel hierarchy and ensure proper alignment between and among positions

 

Education and Training (20%)

  • Provide holistic training program for new employees
  • Provide continuing education program for legacy employees
  • Provide industry learning opportunities
  • Help strategists identify team specialization
  • Provide path to specialization via professional development stipend

 

Innovation (10%)

  • Understand pulse of digital to better inform channel resources and solutions
  • Test new channel product offering to consistently diversify revenue stream

 

Quality Control (10%)

  • Consistently iterate and improve internal processes for best possible work product
  • Provide transparent performance metrics to better understand how quality is achieved
  • Create system of checks and balances to consistently monitor channel work product
  • Ensure advisors are owning individual strategy pods and driving toward individual and team growth and success

 

Collaboration (10%)

  • Team will work with other channel heads to better understand and solve agency-wide challenges
  • Work closely with advisors to maintain strong link and presence throughout team
  • Supporting selling initiatives within Sales

 

Budgeting and financials (10%)

  • Manage channel budget ensuring expenditures are within acceptable margin of model
  • Understand and manage channel P&L to monitor growth and overall solvency

 

Required Education and/or Experience:

 

  • 10+ years of relevant strategic marketing experience
  • 7+ years of management experience (with direct reports)
  • 5+ years of digital experience, specifically eCommerce
  • 5+ years experience with B2B, B2C and mobile verticals
  • Degree at accredited university in marketing, business, communications or related field

 

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

 

  • Entrepreneurial spirit or business owner
  • Digital focused
  • MBA from accredited university

 

Skills and Knowledge:

 

  • Deep understanding of B2C, B2B and mobile vertical
  • B2C eCommerce expertise is a must
  • Advanced knowledge of acquisition marketing
  • Advanced knowledge of retention marketing
  • Deep understanding and experience executing email marketing, media buying (Facebook, SEM, Amazon, Programmatic, etc), Influencer marketing, organic social media management, content marketing, SEO, branding, web development, etc.

 

Computer/Software/Application Proficiency :

 

  • GAIQ certified
  • Adwords certified
  • Facebook Business Manager expertise
  • Google Suite

 

Additional Management Responsibilities:

 

  • Performance Management: setting and managing goals, on-going coaching, corrective action, annual reviews, rewards/recognition, and team/individual development
  • Employee Life Cycle Management: headcount forecasting, job descriptions, recruiting/hiring, termination
  • Governance: ensuring compliance to company policy/practice (e.g. attendance, behavior, workplace attire), ensuring compliance to employment law (e.g. time keeping, anti-harassment and diversity)
  • Leadership: ensures availability to staff, team building, building rapport with individuals, encouraging strong collaborative relationships between individuals and departments, facilitating a healthy work/life mix, solicits and applies feedback (internal and external to team), self-improvement as a leader/manager of people
