Responsibilities
Acts as the systems engineer for the architecting and partnership team providing architecture development across the USSF enterprise and SMC portfolio through the development of collaboration opportunities across systems, programs, and capabilities, and by providing expert advice on the current and future capabilities of international, industry, interagency, and academia partners. Provide advice about space and ground systems, acquisition, and architecture development.
Works independently with both internal and external customers and with technical support, as a technical authority, primary investigator, or project leader. May lead or organize technical efforts or project teams. Interfaces between customers and Aerospace technical and management staff. May mentor less experienced staff and serve as role model.
Key Functions
• May undertake a major program segment such as new partnership development, system-level architectural analysis, or a conceptual design of a new demonstration
• May be required to assist in investigating urgent technical architecture gaps and assemble a major briefing or report
• As the Aerospace representative spanning a geographically-dispersed team and a far-ranging customer environment, provides expert advice on programs, projects, tasks, and priorities
• Perform as a systems engineer, with a team comprised of diversely skilled and experienced engineers working across multiple projects, and interfacing regularly with customer and contractor program management
• Provide systems acquisition expertise and leadership of allied acquisition efforts
• Collaborate with stakeholders across various Aerospace and USG organizations, the SMC programs of record, and allied governments
• Provide advice and guidance regarding directives, policies, and regulations for government international agreements, facilitate Aerospace and customer application of the Arms Export Control Act and implementation of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) for armaments cooperation, export control, technology transfer and foreign disclosure
• Conduct planning and systems engineering analysis for negotiating future cooperative opportunities
This position can be filled as a Project Engineer or a Sr. Project Engineer
Qualifications
Required

Eight or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience, including systems engineering and/or program management
-
Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, etc.) or a related technical field

Current DoD Secret clearance

Exhibit high level of innovation, creativeness, and initiative

Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of contractors, customers, and corporate staff

Ability to form, coordinate, and manage informal task groups drawn from many specialized areas of space technology

Interact well in multi-program, multi-agency environment with the USSF Program Office personnel, as well as support and prime contractors

Must be team-oriented

Highly effective oral/written communication skills

Graduate degree in a relevant technical discipline

Current DoD Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI/SAP access

Familiarity with international programs and armaments cooperation, including ITAR, Arms Export Control Act, and/or Foreign Military Sales

Familiarity with federal and/or military acquisition processes, policies, and agreements

Twelve or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience, including systems engineering and/or program management
