Senior Systems Engineer-Cloud Infrastructure
Cloud Operations ensures essential operation of all systems supporting Blackline Services. A successful candidate must possess solid critical thinking skills and have experience supporting large server farms, 24x7 high availability mission-critical traffic-intensive web infrastructures and be familiar with commonly used server, backup, storage, and virtualization technologies, Microsoft-centric services and applications, performance and health management tools. Large SaaS experience is very desirable.
Responsibilties:
- Collaborates and communicates with peers, customers and leaders on of the health, capacity, patch level and overall status of systems.
- Perform systems evaluation, design, build, deployment and configuration of NAS (NetApp), SAN (Kaminario), storage networking (Cisco/Brocade), compute (UCS) and virtualization (VMWare) technologies.
- Recommends and develops technical road maps.
- Provides technical recommendations and solutions for how to meet business needs.
- Perform patching and upgrades for systems; performs system checks and verification of expected change.
- Develops technology standards and automated system processes.
- Leads outage and incidents with multiple technology partners and participants.
- Implements new systems and retires older equipment.
- Develops and follows change management documentation including back out plans.
- Documents system changes through change management, team process and procedures, configuration management databases and system diagrams.
- Collaborates and communicates with other IT groups to stay informed of changes and developments that may impact the production, QA, and development systems.
- Optimizes current processes and develops new processes as required.
- Assists in establishing baseline performance metrics and the ongoing measurement and reporting of established metrics.
- Writes technical specifications for purchase of hardware and systems software.
- Makes recommendations for software/hardware based on research in support of procurement efforts, when appropriate.
- Acts as a liaison and advocates for systems and the tools, processes, and procedures necessary throughout the life cycle of technology.
- Administers and implements security processes and procedures.
- Monitors the system performance and availability of systems.
- Documents and recommends policies, procedures and systems architecture.
- Participate in on call rotation for incidents and maintenances as needed.
Qualifications:
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Travel as needed to remote office locations for training, implementation, and/or planning.
- Ability to analyze information and use logic and process to address work-related issues and problems.
- Capacity to troubleshoot with a group and be an active participant during large technology conversations.
- Functions effectively under pressure while managing multiple initiatives within deadline-oriented project demands.
- Meets deadlines, stay organized, prioritize, and multi-task efficiently.

- Capable of troubleshooting existing applications.

- Strong experience in deploying and managing VMware (vSphere, vCenter, ESXi/ESX, etc.) or similar technologies.
- Solid experience deploying and configuring secure SAN and NAS solutions, including NetApp, Kaminario and others.
- Considerable Knowledge of backup system architecture including CommVault, Snapshots and Replication.
- Substantial Knowledge of Disaster Recovery systems.
- Strong Knowledge of TCP/IP and Networking Concepts.
- General knowledge of public cloud offerings/technologies.
- 3+ years hands-on storage administration.
- 3+ years hands-on backup administration.
- 3+ years Windows Systems Administration.
- 3+ years VMWare Administration.
