The Job

Sweetgreen is seeking a Sr. Network Administrator to join a group of dynamic and innovative technologists. In this role you will maintain and manage the implementation of strategic company IT initiatives and programs both in our offices and restaurants related to networks. This role provides network, firewall, and other network related support and administrative services for a large distributed network. The position requires technical expertise/knowledge in the 4 layers of the TCP/IP model.

Top Goal -  Can internet connectivity have an uptime of 100%?  Any modern brick and mortar business will have heavy reliance on connectivity to the internet for both internal processes and also for their customers.  With a national footprint and over 140+ restaurants, Sweetgreen has a heavy reliance on being connected to the internet and the network within the restaurants.  It will be the ultimate goal for this role to target the 100% uptime at all of the locations 24x7x365.  Concurrently, also to provide a flawless network environment within each of our restaurants for internal processing, our team members and our customers.

Essential function of a Senior Network Administrator:

  • Monitor, maintain and support the growing number of networks connecting our restaurants to critical business services. Currently 140+ locations and 1 HQ.
    • Working closely with our Internet MSP
  • Maintain network configuration uniformity across the enterprise
    • Performing system upgrades and installation of new network systems
  • Manage network related software and hardware licenses and warranty
  • Research and resolve escalated network related issues : Zendesk ticketing system
  • Create/manage a network topology diagram for sweetgreen and the credentials needed for administration of all network related software and hardware.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain the following documentation:
    • Network topology diagram
    • Inventory of hardware/software components (details including how they are connected)
    • Installation instructions, troubleshooting guide, equipment replacement instructions
    • Changelog management

Availability: Off-hour and weekend availability to conduct maintenance and also for escalated issues support.  Will also participate in on-call rotations for the retail systems team.

Top Skills/Experiences/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, computer science, or related field
  • Experience and strong understanding in management of distributed networking using Meraki hardware and dashboard
    • Firewall, Switch, AP
    • LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi/SDWan
    • Scripting (Python)
    • Meraki Dashboard, Solarwinds
  • Strong understanding of interdependencies and impact of the network on SaaS applications
  • Strong understanding of the four layers of and surrounding TCP/IP
    • Experience with administration and troubleshooting tools
  • Min 4 years of experience as a network administrator of distributed network infrastructure
  • Experience using modern collaboration and communication tools (Jira, Confluence, Slack, Smartsheet, G-Suite, LucidChart)
  • Team player and a self-starter
  • Cisco Meraki Solutions certification recommended
  • CCNA certification or equivalent required
