Interested in advancing the outcomes in the health of people and the planet through design, technology, and partnerships? Does solving some of the most complex problems in healthcare and climate tech get you fired up?! Read on.

At Sidebench we operate in empowered product teams that are purpose built to solve hard problems in ways that work for our clients, that their customers love, and make the world a better place.

As the Senior Manager, Salesforce Technical Architect you’ll be responsible for building and managing a team of Salesforce Developers and Admins and designing project solutions across many different clouds on the Salesforce platform (e.g. Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Health Cloud, App Cloud). As the Salesforce Architect, you will have an expert understanding of Salesforce.com standard applications, web application development, Salesforce integration, and tools such as the Salesforce APIs, Apex, Lightning and the AppExchange that are used to extend the standard product set.

You must be able to operate in client facing environments where you will lead technical architecture workshops with Executives, technical leadership, and other stakeholders from client teams. You will lead technical requirements gathering sessions and write technical requirements documents while also managing a team of Salesforce Admins and Developers to execute each project at our high quality standards across many different projects. The perfect candidate has a solid business understanding and is able to translate business processes and workflows into technical use cases.

You will lead multiple Salesforce Developers and Admins as a servant leader and player coach to lead and help to develop the technical strategies anchored in outcomes that the product team(s) work to achieve while ensuring that what we ship meets the needs of our client partners and their customers.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Servant Leadership & Executive Level Strategic Partnership: First and foremost, this is a leadership position reporting to the VP of Product with a lot of exposure to the rest of the leadership team. You will be required to build and lead a team of both full-time employees and contractors that will directly report to you, and develop and mentor them to become our next generation of Salesforce developers. You’ll need to be seen as a leader that deeply understands the product development process and as a strategic partner to your executive stakeholders at the companies we’re partnering with.

Manage Execution: including teams, tools & environments. As the leader of our Salesforce Development Team, you’ll oversee technical scope and client expectations, analysis, requirements gathering, design, development, prototyping, testing, documentation and deployment of solutions leveraging Salesforce platform capabilities and features. You’ll lead the definition of technical architectures that may include integration and authentication across multiple systems and the development of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). It is important that you also understand and apply Agile methodology to promote continuous iteration of development and testing throughout the lifecycle of each project.

Deeply Collaborate with your Product Team and Client partners: You’ll be responsible for effectively collaborating with Client partners, Executive Stakeholders, Product Managers, Engineering Leads, and the Account Managers. You’ll have the ability to lead, inspire, and foster growth in developers that are both based locally and globally.

Salesforce Evangelism: Like all leaders at Sidebench, you’ll be tasked with representing the business and evangelizing our unique abilities, and in this case that will require you to educate our client partners on the benefits that Salesforce.com can bring to enable their businesses. We’d love to see you writing content and standing out as a thought leader in the space and will support you in speaking engagements and organizing events or groups around the like.

Key Traits

Salesforce Master with Technical Prowess: You describe yourself as a gifted engineer first and a Salesforce Architect second. You also have a balanced venn diagram between business and technical worlds. You have a clear understanding of modern technology stacks and can get deep with the other engineering leaders that you’ll partner with to execute on the products that you’re collaborating on to bring to life.

Servant Leader: You know that your first job as a leader is to grow your people and empower them to achieve things greater than they could have ever imagined on their own. You celebrate their wins and encourage the positives and when things go wrong, you take responsibility and see it as a growth opportunity.

Outcomes Driven: You’ll have a proven track record in strategy, planning, defining, launching successful Salesforce solutions, and managing many projects at once. You should be able to demonstrate experience leading with outcomes, understanding the core levers of a business model, and have a desire to participate in thought leadership in order to be better positioned to drive and inspire our team and our client partners. The concept of KPIs, leading and lagging indicators, and the ability to articulate how your solutions have made a measurable difference in such is a must.

Empathetic Communicator: People should describe you as empathetic and as an excellent communicator. You should have the ability to really understand the person, their problems, and be able to “walk a mile in their shoes.” You should have excellent listening skills and an endless curiosity to understand the why behind everyone and everything. You will be required to constantly make presentations to the team, the VP of Product, company and client partner stakeholders as well as representing the business and the product in various external functions.

Analytical & Inquisitive: You’ll need to have a superior ability to synthesize diverse and complex information and data to help design elegant strategies, solutions, workflows, and procedures that are presentable to all stakeholders.

Self Motivated, Level Headed & Master Prioritizer: You must be a master at time management with a keen ability to prioritize the most important people problems while also improving and training on workplace procedures, processes, and systems. Ideally you’re a creative but systematic thinker who can develop solutions within deadlines while being perceived as calm and composed in the face of challenging scenarios and when under pressure.

Key Outcomes

Build a Team: You won’t be able to do this alone, so you’ll need to build a team of both FTEs and a stable of gifted Contract Talent in order to scale the Salesforce business by collaborating with the VP of Product on a hiring plan and budget.

Salesforce Capacity Expansion: You’ll source, vet, and establish partnerships with third party Salesforce development companies that will allow us to rapidly scale the Saleforce business at designed margins.

Improve Scoping and Development Processes: You’ll work to improve the way we scope and propose new opportunities and develop a set of Salesforce development standards that all developers and admins follow to ensure that the outcomes we’re working toward are built at the highest quality standards.

Looked up to by your peers: Your strategic leadership and player coaching will materialize in your peer reviews on how the team views you as an incredible and impactful leader that they can learn and grow with.
