Team and Role Overview:

Relativity is the first autonomous rocket factory. Our vision is to build the future of humanity in space -- starting with rockets. Disrupting 60 years of aerospace technology, Relativity’s platform vertically integrates intelligent robotics and 3D autonomous manufacturing technology to build the world’s first entirely 3D printed rocket. Relativity’s investors include Mark Cuban, Y-Combinator, Social Capital and Playground Global.

We are looking for a Senior Manager of Real Estate and Workplace to join our growing team at our headquarters in Los Angeles. You will be responsible for all Relativity facilities, including our company headquarters, our manufacturing sites, and our satellite offices at test and launch facilities. Our facilities combine the experience of vibrant startup offices with state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities, and we consider them a key to our success in evolving our manufacturing technology, building an incredible team, and delivering industry-leading launch services to our customers. You will report to the VP of Operations.

Outcomes and Objectives:

To help us build the first autonomous rocket factory, as Relativity’s Senior Manager of Real Estate and Workplace, you

  • Will own and expand Relativity’s site portfolio across all critical capabilities (office, research, production, warehousing, as well as satellite offices at test and launch sites), and over the entire lifecycle.
  • Take responsibility for short-term goals and long-term strategy across Space Planning, Construction, Facilities Management, Office Management, Security, and Environmental Health & Safety.
  • Be a trusted partner across all of Relativity, by actively driving requirements gathering and specifying Relativity’s real estate needs to support a high-growth, fast-paced organization with timely and effective space and workplace solutions.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure transparent, effective, and cost-effective delivery of real estate and workplace solutions. Lead and support the development and deployment of standards and performance metrics for facilities development and building management, including the delivery of technical services, project management and financial control.
  • Lead and manage all facilities resources to oversee building operations (repairs and maintenance, HVAC, porter services, janitorial, etc.) and oversee the daily operations of all sites (space set-ups, occupancy planning and moves, security, EH&S programs, reception and mail services, etc.).
  • Lead property portfolio strategy and tactics for Relativity, by balancing growth ahead of need whilst avoiding waste through poor utilization; define development strategy at new locations.
  • Take ownership for construction projects ensuring sensible scope, schedule, quality, cost; provisioning of all consultants, vendors and suppliers; manage financial elements of construction projects, partnering with finance.
  • Ensure Relativity’s sites, in particular sites that are co-located with federal facilities (e.g., our test site at NASA Stennis) are built out according to the specifications and guidelines as posted by NASA.
  • Create and implement facilities and services that add value to the organization as a whole. Use the workspace and amenities (e.g. food, wellness) to create impact for Relativity by attracting and retaining talent, while controlling spend.

Candidate Profile:

To be successful in this role, you should have 5+ years of experience in full-cycle real estate development, including requirements definition, search, negotiation and close, design, construction management, and continuous facility improvements. You are customer-centric, and excel at driving complex discussions through a clear, results-oriented thought process. You are able to articulate goals and rally everyone around you to focus on these goals, be it team members, colleagues, or outside parties. Pressure around timelines, cost, and quality unleash the best in you, and you find creative ways to optimize across trade-offs.

You are passionate about creating facilities that are highly functional, aesthetically appealing, and provide the platform for companies to continuously evolve. While a variety of expertise is required for the role, it is clearly a learning trajectory, and a passion to dive into new areas and master them quickly is an absolute must. You thrive in ambiguous environments, are passionate about creating structure from scratch, and have an untiring focus on excellent results.

Minimum Required Skills and Competencies:

  • 5+ years proven real estate development experience, ideally with mixed-use facilities (manufacturing sites a strong plus)
  • Experience in the aerospace or transportation sector preferred
  • Broad real estate knowledge, in particular core processes, vendor landscape, and schedule/budget management
  • Comfortable interacting with highly technical teams, to identify fundamental site requirements and compile solutions that work for a variety of teams
  • Highest attention to detail, while being able to abstract from day-to-day challenges and ensure alignment on high-level objectives
  • You bring a thought leadership mindset to the table to support a high performance and growth environment, but you don’t mind operating at the tactical level as needed
  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity
  • Excellent judgement and analytical skills
  • First class written, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Always an enthusiastic team player with a strong drive to create a positive work environment.
  • Comfortable with high-volume workload and self-driven prioritization.
