The Role

As a Production Manager in automotive manufacturing, you will have the critical task of managing the priorities, equipment, and people associated with the production line. This position will oversee the day-to-day manufacturing operations and will report to the Director of Manufacturing. Your experience in fast-paced production lines where process and equipment development are a key feature will make you an ideal candidate for this role. You have a passion for employee development and enjoy the process of training and developing both new hires and veteran production staff. You are very hands-on and prefer to be on the production floor and have proven skills in both process and equipment troubleshooting, allowing you to easily adapt to constantly changing production environments.

Responsibilities

Position available is for 2nd Shift.   Hours of work are 3:00 pm to 12:30 am, M-F.  

  • Execute on priorities and production plans provided by operations management.
  • Hire, Manage, coach, and mentor production supervisors and team leads across all shifts.
  • Develop training and oversee activities such as 5S, Kaizen, Safety audits, and TPM.
  • Execute and maintain Standardized Manufacturing instructions and Control plans.
  • Support issue resolution including root cause investigation & corrective action tracking.
  • Ensure quality standards are being met throughout the entire production process and support no defects from leaving a station or team area.
  • Generate daily production reports and lead teams in KPI tracking.
  • Monitor and ensure safety standards are met by all employees.
  • Develop and maintain a budget for production operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to set and achieve manufacturing goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • 7+ years managing teams of people in a mid-high volume production environment.
  • 5+ years working in the automotive industry
  • Evidence of exceptional abilities.
  • Experience supporting process development, KPI development, and budget development.
  • Experience supporting equipment maintenance
  • Knowledge of, and certification in 5S, lean manufacturing, or Six Sigma principles preferred.
  • Communicate clearly using excellent written and verbal skills
  • Proficient with MS office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project)

Additional Requirements

  • Available to work extended hours and weekends as needed
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted, stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to maneuver in tight spaces
