PRIVATE BANKING CREDIT STRATEGIST
WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
Private Banking Credit Strategist reports directly to Head of Private Banking and works closely with the Division Administrative Manager, credit administration, risk and regional teams to define the credit strategy that protects the business from risk exposure while responding to client's lending needs. This role will be crucial in supporting Private Bank's transformation and growth strategy.

As a member of City National's Private Banking group, you will help deliver tailored financial solutions to high- and ultra-high-net-worth families, select professional services firms and select nonprofits. WHAT WILL YOU DO?
- Lead the strategy and coordinate the execution of the custom lending function, to create the Right to Win for the Private Bank
- Set the strategic direction for PB to manage the portfolio and risk exposure partnering with the risk team to determine and monitor the risk appetite
- Continuously improve the competitiveness of our target client segment through best in class credit delivery model
- Shape the vision and define the strategy for the lending technology platforms (nCino) to be used by the Private Bank
- Establish key milestones for future state custom lending product offering for the Private Bank
- Identify macro and micro trends within the Private Banking industry that can impact the PB portfolio, and work with Risk and Regional managers to take appropriate steps in changes to underwriting criteria or undertake rapid portfolio reviews
- Drive alignment of strategy to policy and procedure simplification / optimization, make the underwriting process more effective with a focus on value-add activities and creating risk differentiated processes
- Ensure all strategic initiatives of the credit organization strictly adheres to internal control policies and are in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements
- As a senior leader in the Private Bank credit organization, provide strong leadership and be a strong advocate for the team with internal stakeholders
- Instrumental in defining a credit strategy that delivers continuous innovation by leveraging data and automation tools for better insights to support the lending decision or speed up decisioning
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Must-Have*
- Master's Degree MBA, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
- 15-20 years of experience with increasing responsibility, managing and leading in a custom lending business for HNW/UHNW clients
- At least 10 years in roles with Credit and/or Risk management responsibility
- Proven experience with credit underwriting for UHNW/HNW clients
- Comprehensive understanding of the industry, with an advanced understanding of, and experience with, all related banking lending products
- Experience with large scale technology integration projects for commercial lending solutions

- Proven track record of managing credit risk policies and procedures at a Private Bank

Compensation
Starting base salary: $175,745 - $326,377 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
