The Environmental, Health and Safety Manager is responsible for continuously monitoring and adapting safety procedures and operations to ensure a safe and fully compliant work environment for all employees across multiple job sites. The main duties and responsibilities for this position include:
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Hire, train, and manage Environmental Health and Field Safety teams as Heliogen grows
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Inspect all facilities to identify safety, health, and environmental risks
- Develop and implement inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections for both company and field contractors
- Develop health and safety procedures for all areas of the company and for field contractors
- Prepare and schedule training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics
- Monitor compliance with safety procedures
- Draft inspection reports to document inspection findings
- Ensure material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed
- Maintain records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required
- Evaluate and influence plant designs to support a safe work environment
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
- Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time
What's Essential:
- Bachelors degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required; Masters degree desirable
- Five years of related experience in both field and production facility environments, with 10 years preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies
- Skilled in evaluating and mitigating workplace hazards
- Extensive knowledge of OSHA standards
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across cross functional teams
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
Desirable Experience:
- Construction, Power Generation or Industrial Manufacturing experience preferred
- Significant training experience preferred
