The opportunity:

Clutter is looking for an entrepreneurial, results-driven General Manager, Retail Strategy to lead Clutter’s retail expansion. We have established a national retail partnership with Walmart and currently have 18 active Clutter stores inside Walmarts across the country. We plan to open an additional 40 new retail stores this year within other high-volume, high visibility Walmart locations. These stores provide a unique opportunity to connect with new customers and sell both physical products as well as moving and storage services. 

The GM, Retail Strategy will own and build the retail vertical while delivering strong P&L results. They will discover and implement new ways to leverage these stores to benefit Clutter’s business holistically and consider Clutter’s Walmart stores as one touchpoint in a broad network. To do this, the GM, Retail Strategy will test and iterate different services and products with the goal of providing an exceptional customer experience. They will also be responsible for setting budgets, managing operational costs, engaging with suppliers, and monitoring financial activities. 

This is a very unique and exciting opportunity for the right candidate to lead one of Clutter’s most important strategic initiatives from the ground up.

What you’ll do:

  • Scale and expand Clutter’s retail vertical as we open another 40+ stores within Walmart locations this year.
  • Experiment and test new in-store offerings using a data-driven approach and marketplace knowledge.
  • Execute product tests and pilots on the ground, refining as needed.
  • Own and analyze your P&L to identify cost drivers and revenue streams while optimizing for long term growth.
  • Obsess over the customer experience in stores to develop a strong brand halo around Clutter Walmart stores.
  • Develop a cohesive online/offline journey that drives customers to Clutter’s service offerings.
  • Work closely with Finance & Accounting to assist in budget preparation and expense management activities
  • Manage operational costs and drive efficiencies through the network.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and internal cross-functional teams including Operations, Product, Design, Marketing, Finance and People teams to test and roll out new ways of utilizing our stores and to deliver P&L results
  • Set, monitor and report on key results on a regular basis and strive for continuous improvement across the board

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree from top university, MBA a plus 
  • 8+ years of previous experience, including previous experience in a similar role and/or background in management consulting / investment banking 
  • Obsession with continuously improving the customer experience both digitally and physically
  • Demonstrable skills working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
