Responsibilities:
- Manage and inspire a team of event professionals to conceptualize, coordinate, and execute BlackLine events and the company's presence at 3rd party events (200+ events annually), including:
- IntheBlack series: annual conference series with 500 to several thousand attendees per event, held in Europe, Asia and the Americas
- BlackLine Best Practices Summit series for customers
- BlackLine Financial Transformation Summit series for prospects
- Small-scale in-market Field Marketing events-breakfasts, happy hours, dinners, lunch-and-learns.
- Tradeshows and conferences
- Partner events like SAP Sapphire and Oracle NetSuite Suiteworld
- Develop comprehensive strategy for global events to drive client engagement and expand sales pipeline
- Collaborate with budget owners across marketing, sales, alliances and other groups with event needs to develop event concepts and budget proposals
- Execute all events within approved budgets and timeframes.
- Measure and look for opportunities to improve delivery cost, efficiency and ROI of events
- Drive the creation of a messaging strategy for all events
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and industry professionals to negotiate contracts and secure high-profile venues, entertainment, keynote speakers, and production services
- Collaborate with Creative team to ensure brand consistency and continuity across channels
- Keep abreast of corporate event marketing trends to recommend new ideas and supporting technologies to enhance attendees' experience and BlackLine's business results
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of event management/corporate marketing experience in the software space, preferably B2B cloud-based vendor
- 8+ years of team management and leadership, ideally in an events capacity
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Quantitative ability to model and manage budgets, forecasts, and expenses in Excel and understand financial implications of event decisions and changes
- Strong negotiation skills and proven ability to manage multimillion-dollar budgets
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Keen business sense and intuition, with the ability to find creative solutions to unforeseen, last-minute obstacles
- Strong results orientation with a dedicated client focus
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, meet demanding deadlines, prioritize workflow and adjust to frequent workload fluctuations
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating with other functions and areas
- Ability to motivate, inspire and manage performance of a team of event professionals
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, technology or related field, MBA preferred
- Experience developing marketing targeted towards the CFO & finance department audience is not required but preferred
- At least 50% travel required
