About This Role

At Apeel Sciences, we look to nature to help the global food system improve quality, reduce waste, and ensure an abundant future for our planet. We are seeking a Global Head of Real Estate & Workplace Experience who will be responsible for developing, implementing and leading our global real estate strategy, across multiple countries and continents. In this position you will demonstrate your subject matter expertise in global real estate and facilities portfolio management including global real estate strategy, site selection, construction, budgeting, project and risk management, and establishing & growing strong relationships with key stakeholders. This role will require excellent problem solving, influencing, leadership, & strategic planning across the organization. This position is based in our Goleta, CA office and will report to the CFO.

What You'll Do 

  • Lead a team to develop our forward-thinking approach to global real estate and facilities strategy across multiple (and sometimes diverse and remote) locations, executing timely decisions in advance of space needs; ensure the approach and process are well understood by all key stakeholders
  • Leverage data and technology platforms to optimize real estate and facilities planning opportunities, identify workplace experience trends & understand risks
  • Oversee lease management including management of broker relationships and negotiation of terms & renewals
  • Lead the process for site selection, optimizing for strategic fit, commercial terms, and infrastructure and design; leverage global talent acquisition predictive hiring data for workforce planning insights
  • Accountability for developing and executing a global rolling capital plan and forecast for construction and design projects and workplace experience planning
  • Manage RFP process for architect and project management selection, ensuring quality and price competitiveness. Ensure viable plans and establish scope, schedule and budget
  • Provide management visibility to project portfolio, status and risks through effective and consistent reporting and budget tracking
  • Manage multiple, parallel projects with minimal direction, exercising independent judgment and initiative with extensive autonomy
  • Demonstrate the ability to influence, establish and sustain collaborative relationships at all levels of the organization, at the corporate, regional and local level.

  • Ability to travel globally as necessary
  • Bachelors Degree in Real Estate, Business or Finance (MBA preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience in global real estate including managing a global real estate portfolio, including strategy, planning, development & large-scale capital projects
  • Knowledge of global real estate standards, policies, metrics & best practices
  • Proven record in working with and influencing senior leaders
  • Deep experience managing global teams
  • Expertise in supplier selection and external vendor management
  • Spanish (written and oral) a plus
