About the Position:
As our Marketplace - Director, Launch Center of Excellence, you will be the leader responsible for the success of our newly launched markets & the merchants within these markets. You will have all the support needed to excel in this role but the buck will stop with you in terms of ensuring success. You will initially report to the VP & GM of Marketplace and eventually report to the GM of Supply - Markets & Merchants.
Specifically, you will focus on the following segmentation of responsibilities:
- Strategy/decision-making: Be the primary point of contact for the marketplace leadership team on critical questions related to our near-term and long-term success focused on newly launched markets & merchants. With a MECE structure & non-biased thinking, you will drive strategic decisions on which markets we should launch next and course-corrections in current launched markets
- Management: With intense focus and prioritization, you will lead multiple matrix launch pods across multiple markets and ensure their success. You will travel to various markets to meet with merchants and launch teams to gather learnings and create actionable next steps
- Alignment: With strong storytelling & compelling propositions, you will drive alignment cross-functionally with Data & Analytics (DnA), Product, Finance, Sales, Sales Ops, BD, Ux etc.
- Player & Coach: You will coach all the matrix teams reporting to you but also take on a curated strategic sales pipeline to potentially close in multiple different markets.
- Launch Playbook: You will be responsible for developing and refining our launch market playbook which includes best practises on launch pod structure, supply flywheel activation, demand flywheel activation etc.
- Metrics & performance management: You will help structure OKRs, input and output KPIs and various dashboards, lead metrics-based meetings outlining weekly operational and financial performance on health and status of launch markets
Within 30 Days You’ll:
- Progress through our Ramp Camp (ChowNow’s New Hire Onboarding Experience)
- Build hypothesis on current and future launch markets while working with data team
- Absorb all current progress to date and drive learnings and insights towards next steps
- Build OKR framework for marketplace supply along with key input and output metrics
Within 60 Days You’ll:
- Help refine our GTM launch strategies
- Lay out a plan to achieve ambitious launch goals
Within 90 Days You’ll:
- Based on learnings to date, help guide the team on course corrections we need to make
- Start defining your own strategic initiatives to focus and drive
- Build on all the current in-flight strategic initiatives
You Should Apply If:
- You have at least 10+ years of work experience, with consumer marketplace experience
- Preferably you have experience in launching markets
- You have 5+ years of experience in business development
- You have 5+ years of experience managing large and complex sales teams
- You have exceptional prioritization & project management skills
- You have a low ego and a knack for collaborating with a wide range of people
- You love rapid change, are extremely curious and are excited by our mission to create a better marketplace for merchants and consumers
- You have strong executive presence and story-telling skills
- You are adept in bringing clear and logical structure to ambiguous questions
- You are highly analytical and think from first principles
- You are driven by results and enjoy doing whatever it takes to execute on complex projects
- You have a process-oriented mindset and ability to lead people to get things done
