Role Summary:
Buyer Assistant
As a Buyer Assistant, you will play an integral role in optimizing our inventory positions by supporting our Purchasing team. Monitoring an item’s performance and forecasting demand is critical to running a healthy business and maximizing sales and profitability. We manage over 800 SKUs across seven distinct brands, many stored at multiple warehouse locations. In this position, you will learn business fundamentals that will take you far in any future career path, including how the entire supply chain operates, how to utilize analytics to make data driven decisions, and how to communicate effectively. We are passionate about people development, and you will receive mentorship and coaching to set you up for success. This is a great role for a new graduate with solid internship experience, or someone with a couple of years of experience working in a professional environment.
What you'll be doing:
- Monitor sale trends and investigate spikes and dips as input into items’ projections and future POs
- Place new POs and revise existing POs with vendors
- Assist with containerization of shipments per location
- Assist with customs clearance and import documentation
- Separate POs by distribution center to ensure the right allocation at each, and manage target allocations (e.g., how many units of each item are needed at each location)
- Develop ad hoc reports focused on SKU performance, stock positions, and trends by a category, vendor, or collection level
- Prepare slides and reports for cross-functional, executive, and vendor meetings
- Review vendor invoices
- Provide support to the Purchasing / Operations department
What you bring to the table:
- Extreme attention to detail – you triple-check all emails and deliverables, and take pride in getting it right the first time
- Strong organizational skills – you never let anything slip through the cracks, and time management is your forte
- Effective verbal and written communication skills – you communicate to be understood in a concise and clear manner, and bring a point of view
- Strong analytical skills – you use logical structuring in understanding problems and creating solutions, and don’t rely on others to tell you what to do
- Adaptable and flexible – if priorities change on a daily or hourly basis, you can pivot, adjust your schedule, and re-focus
- Team-oriented – you jump at the chance to help a team member when assistance is needed
- Intermediate Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred; otherwise, 1-2 years of working in a professional environment
