OVERVIEW:

The Associate Network Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, and upgrade of networks, including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and network management systems. The Associate Network Engineer will monitor network connectivity and ensure high quality data transmission. Provide technical support to various end users with regards to LAN/MAN/WAN (local/metropolitan/wide area networks) and cloud-based networks. Serve as a liaison with vendors and other third-party providers. The role reports to the Manager, Network and Security.

TEAM OVERVIEW:

The Network Engineering team designs and monitors the Stamps.com functional and secure computer networks, including local area and multi-tenant networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), the internet, intranets, and other data communication systems to provide maximum performance for their users

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary Objectives:

  1. Maintain the company’s networking environment.
  2. Monitor network connectivity.
  3. Provide technical support to various end users.

Essential Position Duties:

  • Maintain the company’s networking environment by applying robust industry standards and best practices in AWS as well as physical Data Center setting.
    • Direct system upgrade, installation, and configuration of switches, routers, and firewalls.
    • Document and enforce system standards.
    • Install, configure, troubleshooting, and support Cisco and Palo Alto Networks Firewall Environment, SSL and IPSec VPN technologies.
  • Ensure security of all technology systems by managing and consistently updating a comprehensive security strategy.
  • Generate and distribute network operational status reports.
    • Implement, configure and update the automated network, application, and security monitoring package to include proactive notifications.
  • Respond to urgent technology-related situations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Internal Transfer Requirement’s:

  • Minimum of one year of continuous employment with Stamps.com or its subsidiaries.
  • Must be in good standing without any current performance improvement plans.
  • Must enroll in CCNA (Cisco Certified Networking Associate) certification.

Education and/or Experience:                                                                 

  • Bachelor’s degree in EE, Math, Computer Science or Equivalent Experience preferred.
  • One (1) to Three (3) years’ experience in information technology-related positions.
  • Hands on experience with architecting, deploying and managing a robust, fault tolerant and highly available networks in AWS
  • Experience with hardware, software, scripting, automation, LAN administration and troubleshooting.

Data Center Proficiency:

  • Data center core services – generators, ATS, UPSs, PDUs, fire dampening systems, CRAC/CRAHs, TCP/IP, L2/3 technologies, application isolation, DNS, packet analysis, SSO, SAML, web application firewalls (WAF), PKIs, LAN technologies, DDOS prevention, Imperva, AWS, web proxy, reverse proxy, load balancing

Network/Application Proficiency:                                           

  • AWS
    • Network technologies (VPCs/ACLs/SGs/ALB etc)
    • Direct Connect, BPG, VPC peering, Route53 etc.
  • IP routing; OSPF, EIGRP
  • Ethernet (all flavors)
  • Spanning-tree & associated technologies including BDPUs, MST, RPVST
  • VLANs including VTP and 802.1q: Segregating servers or any network devices
  • ACLs (standard, extended, reflexive), security policies.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • In-depth experience and knowledge in the various layers of OSI model.
  • A solid understanding of OSI model and how different technologies fit within this model.
  • A sound understanding of the principles, practices, technology and infrastructure required to maintain network uptime of +99.99%.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills – able to compartmentalize data and verify and or rule out certainties/uncertainties.
  • Effective and precise verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized, possess a meticulous attention to detail and comfortable working within strict operational boundaries and procedures.
  • Sense of urgency and great perseverance for problem solving.

Travel Requirements:

  • Less than 5%
