Technical SEO Manager
We’re looking to unlock the next phase of growth for our properties. You’ll be part of the Organic Growth Team helping us craft and execute winning strategies to achieve that growth. We work with geographically distributed product, development, and content teams to support growth initiatives across our owned and operated portfolio of sites including HowStuffWorks & MapQuest. You’ll be most successful if you have an experiment based mindset that thinks in terms of probabilities and impact.
We currently support remote employment in Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Washington state.
The Role You Will Have:
- Perform technical audits to identify opportunities that map to our strategy to improve our organic search performance across key sites.
- Communicate opportunities to broader teams in order to prioritize and proselytize the value of SEO work.
- Collaborate with development teams to identify and optimize page load times to improve Core Web Vitals and User Experience.
- Write requirements and be the Technical SEO SME for product teams.
- Guide the development of internal tools to scale SEO work.
- Perform data analysis as feedback to judge the effectiveness of our work and serve as an input into our next iteration of work.
What You'll Bring to the Team:
- 5+ years experience with enterprise SEO for publishing, ecommerce, and/or marketplace sites
- You’ve used crawling tools like Screaming Frog/Sitebulb or DeepCrawl/onCrawl to diagnose problems and propose solutions.
- You know how to read and write (basic) HTML/CSS and JavaScript including schema markup.
- Since enterprise SEO is about leverage, you know how to automate tasks to make better use of your most precious resource - time.
- You know how to leverage information from 3rd party tools such as ahrefs/Semrush/Moz, Google Search Console, or Google Analytics from both the web interfaces and APIs.
- You know how to use data analysis to find and assess opportunities. This could be working with Excel/Sheets or writing SQL to extract from a database.
- Since we work cross-functionally, clear communication is a must. You’ll need to be able to explain technical concepts to various audiences. This includes writing clear requirements and collaborating with development teams to implement enhancements.
- Experience with a Single Page Application (SPA) and JavaScript frameworks like AngularJS, React/Preact, Ember.js, etc.
- A/B Testing or other SEO experimentation methods
