Job Summary
The Public Relations Coordinator is responsible for spearheading the development and public image of Hawke Media's image and position in the marketplace through all mediums, including print, broadcast, and online media, to promote Hawke to the public, prospective clients, and strategic partners.
The Public Relations Coordinator is also responsible for handling media inquiries, issuing press releases, promoting press releases, securing press coverage, arranging public appearances, analyzing public opinion data to position Hawke Media as an innovator and premier digital marketing consultancy, and strategically using media and direct communication to address community concern and interest in the organization. This role will also work closely with the Experiential & Events Marketing Manager to promote Hawke Events and special projects and create promotional materials.
What You'll Be Doing:

  • Support the development process for Hawke Media's press outreach, which includes but is not limited to curating media lists, writing pitches, sending out pitches, following up with media.
  • Support the development of content creation: researching, drafting, editing and placing all thought leadership pieces on third party sites
  • Assisting in Identifying all press opportunities for Hawke Media through research and email and managing all press opportunities to completion.
  • Supporting the press outreach for all Hawke events: ideation, press release creation, PR strategy, press outreach and coverage, media invitations, securing media partnerships, etc.
  • Support in the development of an annual list of award submissions for Hawke Media based on industry research, develop a budget and proposal for event submission, entering Hawke Media for submissions, and developing metrics to measure the impact of award nominations and submissions on the organization.
  • Support in developing a proposal and budget for external networking events and establishing press relationships for Hawke Media as a result.
  • Working closely with the current PR manager and Hawke Media's Content Manager to spearhead community management for Hawke Media's social media and ensuring that marketing communications are aligned with Hawke's brand identity.
  • Develop process and insights for Industry research and Hawke and client media monitoring
  • Develop brand bible with Hawke Media Content Manager
  • Support in the scheduling and promotion of Hawke Media's internal evangelists (CEO and Head of Marketing to begin with) with speaking engagements within their respective "brand" circles
  • Collaborate with current PR manager to Ideate creative ways to showcase our internal Hawke Media evangelists through a variety of channels including reality TV shows, competitions, JV's, etc.
  • Identify and help vet and schedule podcast speaking engagements for internal evangelists
  • Strategize and execute on the monetization of speaking engagements


Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Political Science, Journalism, English, Public Relations, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years experience in a public relations role at a brand, advertising agency or marketing consultancy surrounding thought leadership communications.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects to completion with a quick turnaround.
  • Deep knowledge of digital advertising and marketing issues and trends, including the corresponding media landscape.
  • Impeccable attention to detail, project management, teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate experience, knowledge, creativity, and measurement in all PR campaigns and PR-related efforts.
  • Experience creating media relations strategies, shaping stories with media toward the client and seasonal themes and trends.
  • Exceptional writing skills for an agency setting with the ability to secure press coverage, produce media talking points, presentations, reports, speaking submissions, and award submissions.
  • Excellent people skills - the ability to work well in team settings; identify strengths, develop junior team members, and be seen as a trusted team member.
  • Ability to adapt and communicative style and voice that is reflective of Hawke's culture to its audience.
  • Skill and results with secondary modes of communications, such as social media and events.
  • Drive to exceed expectations of Hawke Media, its clients, strategic partners, and of colleagues through hard work, creative thinking, and deep knowledge of industry subject matter.
  • Ability to quickly and easily comprehend Hawke's business, issues and competitive environment, and translate them into agency plans and action.
