About the Preditor at Headspace:

As a crucial part of our mission, we’re looking for an accomplished and truly collaborative Social Media Preditor (Producer/Camera Op/Editor) to join our team. In this role, the Preditor will report into Supervising Producer in HS Studios. This role at Headspace is at the forefront of social media, digital video and experiential production.

Working in Headspace Studios team, you’ll be an integral part of the video production team producing engaging, inspiring and entertaining short-form content. You will be at the helm of development, production and post for Headspace’s social media video content. We are looking for someone who has a proven track record for producing world class caliber work that both inspires and innovates. Ideally, you are a film school grad with a broad skills base (shooting, editing, producing), hungry for a challenging production role and willing to play a key role in a busy department. 

You’ll lean into your innate ability to support multiple projects simultaneously while keeping the team productive and positive. You’ll collaborate with but not limited to internal teams (Social Media Editor, Production, Partnerships, Finance, Legal) and outside production partners to set up production plans, workflow and maximize budget spend. You’ll counsel on creative solutions that best fit the business goal and adhere to budgets. Beyond being a great creator, you are highly organized and comfortable in a fast-paced small team environment.

How your skills and passion will come to life at Headspace:

  • Concept development, writing, producing, and editing of various length video and audio materials for our social media channels [Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn].
  • Write and/or work closely with Social Media Editor to polish or re-write story arch, scripts, interview questions.
  • Edit source material from in-house and outside contributors using visually storytelling through a range of creative elements (pacing, style, lighting, music, etc.).
  • Handle on the fly shoots with internal teams and/or partnerships. 
  • Anticipate and plan for international production needs. 
  • Work with Supervising Producer resource and staff contractor talent when necessary (PA, camera operators, lighting, audio sups).
  • Manage multiple end to end scopes, timelines, and budgets; while never missing a deadline and adhering to budget. 
  • Complete knowledge of and understanding of established brand guidelines.
  • Understand and interpret revisions throughout entire approval process within short timeframes.
  • Run a tight ship when it comes to budgets - always aware of budgeted, acutals, and variances. 
  • Meet QC requirements for all deliveries: impeccable visual quality, spec requirements, and file naming conventions. 
  • Organize and manage final delivery to point of contact for Social Media upload.
  • Ability to perform light color grading work. 
  • Review and archive contracts, licensing agreements, and release forms with Headspace Legal team. 
  • Strategize post plans with counterpart of Audio to ensure optimal audio finishing at the highest quality.

Skills you have:

  • Strong creative eye for story and a desire to develop new styles of visual storytelling. 
  • Possess a natural sense for color grading, music and audio, and effective communication.
  • Strong knowledge of different lighting techniques using ambient, and continuous lights.
  • Proven ability to proactively identify and address problems quickly and independently to make quick and informed decisions to minimize their impact on production. 
  • Superior time management skills in a time sensitive environment essential; ability to navigate multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Able to work calmly and effectively under pressure and react quickly.
  • A love for trends and culture of video - knowledge of influential digital entities such as Complex, BBC, Vox, and more. 
  • Curious by nature and prepared to do some detective work to find the answers.
  • Superhuman organizational skills — no crack is too small and nothing slips through.
  • Be comfortable and confident working in a dynamic environment, partnering with teams to move through the unknown. 
  • Excellent business communication skills (written and verbal) - and show the ability to effectively communicate and interact with people at various levels and in various disciplines of business and production. 
  • Excited to learn and grow.

What you’ve accomplished:

  • 3-6 years experience working in professional post-production environment as social media editor/producer.
  • 2-4+ years of fast paced creative environment, creating animations, video, audio and physical events. 
  • Proven professional level of editorial work. 
  • You have experience managing and working with external partners.
  • You are already an exceptional producer experienced in producing visual assets and well-versed in all production processes. 
  • Have an established network of world class freelancers and production partners and crews.
  • You are familiar with high quality vendors for live action, photography, and animation. 
  • Your former co-workers sing your praises for your ability to remain calm, work effectively under pressure and keep it fun for everyone. 
  • You have knowledge of the law, ethics and industry regulations around production & understand when it is necessary, and how to acquire, the relevant clearances and licences, including copyright and music clearances.
  • Experience in working with talent.
  • Experience shooting with a Sony A7s and FS5 (or similar).
  • Expert in Adobe Premiere CC and Media Encoder.
  • Proficient in Adobe After Effects CC, Photoshop CC.

We're located in the heart of Santa Monica on Michigan + Cloverfield, just off the 10 freeway. Bergamont train station is right behind our office.
