Are you a PR professional who is passionate about storytelling, thinks strategically, and knows how to tailor creative and effective communications to different audiences? Edmunds is currently searching for a PR & Communications Manager to join its marketing team based in Los Angeles, CA. Reporting to the Associate Director, PR and Communications, the PR & Communications Manager will work with a cross-functional group to help drive strategic communications support across all of Edmunds’ key audiences. The ideal candidate will have experience in taking complex topics and transforming them into compelling narratives for consumers, B2B audiences, and the media.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop a communications strategy geared toward establishing and maintaining media relationships with key lifestyle and consumer media outlets, including local broadcast outlets in key markets, to position Edmunds as a destination of choice and trusted resource for car shoppers
- Be one of the main points of contact for incoming media inquiries, managing interview requests and fielding opportunities while working with key stakeholders to develop messaging and responses in a timely manner
- Work with the Associate Director of PR and Communications and other stakeholders across the organization to surface strategic and proactive PR opportunities, thinking through story angles, media targets and timing to optimize impact and reach
- Support the development of B2B marketing materials, such as drafting prospecting and retention emails for clients, weekly communications to sales teams and social media posts
- Serve as the event planning lead for Edmunds’ participation in key dealer conferences and events
- Support the strategy and execution for all Edmunds-owned and external awards/accolades, including drafting communications materials and collaborating with all stakeholder teams to ensure full coordination and promotion across all Edmunds channels
- Support in drafting PR outreach materials, including press releases, media advisories, custom pitches and briefing sheets
- Serve as a primary contact for incoming permissions requests for usage of Edmunds materials
- Serve as the lead in routing all B2B marketing materials through legal approvals, including diligently maintaining a repository of all approved Edmunds stats and accolades
- Support regular PR metrics tracking and reporting, including the compilation of a weekly internal newsletter highlighting notable media placements
- Support thought leadership efforts for Edmunds spokespeople, including researching and developing speaker submissions for key events
What You Need:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred (journalism, communications, marketing)
- 5+ years experience in planning, writing, editing, and production of email newsletters, press releases, marketing materials and web page copy
- Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively interface with internal and external stakeholders and respond rapidly to incoming requests
- Demonstrated experience in successfully pitching lifestyle and consumer focused media outlets, including broadcast; existing bench of contacts and relationships a big plus
- Flexible hours to accommodate media inquiries and breaking news
- Passion for storytelling and staying on top of news cycles relevant to the automotive industry and consumers; ability to think ahead of the curve and develop creative storylines
- Track record of researching, planning and managing a company’s sponsorships and presence at industry events and conferences, including vendor coordination, budget management, booth development and partnership with creative marketing teams for collateral and design
- Razor-sharp attention to detail
- Experience in working collaboratively with different functions to execute 360-style campaigns and activations
- Ability to work in an extremely fast-paced, constantly changing environment
- Strong organizational skills and working capabilities in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Experience with media monitoring systems and management
- Previous in-house and agency experience supporting both PR and B2B marketing initiatives a plus
- Flexible, collaborative, and proactive; an enthusiastic team member who can positively impact both strategic and creative initiatives
