The Role

We are looking for our next GM of Content Marketing to oversee our Content Marketing department and continue to expand our team in multiple offices. In this role, you will be running an essential department at Wpromote, driving content and outreach strategies in an effort to improve organic traffic results. The ideal candidate will be both comfortable in the boardroom pitching services as they would be in a one-on-one meeting, coaching a team member. This role focuses on team development, high level strategy, client support, and P&L management to ensure profitability.

You Will Be

  • Managing a team of 20+ individuals, directly supervising 4 directors
  • Determining the future vision of the Content Marketing department as well as continually innovating and staying ahead of the changing digital marketing landscape
  • Driving internal business unit growth while working directly with the Sales team to create/identify opportunities for new client acquisition
  • Partnering with the Sales team to create opportunities for new business growth
  • Collaborating with the SVP’s of Marketing and Client Services to spearhead agency PR initiatives which include Forrester interviews, conference attendance, content development for industry publications, audit/sales pitches, case studies, etc
  • Providing growth mapping & goal setting, personal development, cultivating individuality, and performing semiannual formal performance reviews
  • Driving content marketing work for clients, including strategy development, tactical expertise, and measurement of outreach programs
  • Providing dissemination strategies for content through partnerships with publishers, vendors, and additional external sources
  • Collaborating with the SEO team to determine outreach strategies and assets for organic growth
  • Working with directors to determining the correct roles, responsibilities, and expertise needed to scale and grow the content marketing practice
  • Managing the recruitment, retention, and professional development of the content marketing team
  • Leading content strategy with emphasis on holistic, full-funnel approach while serving as agency lead for all vendor and partner connections
  • Accountable for the quality of all content marketing plans/strategies/services delivered to clients as well as client satisfaction
  • Acting as a central resource for information related to content marketing – facilitate collaboration, knowledge sharing, and encourage the groundswell for content marketing across teams and offices
  • Acting as key liaison with department heads, executive leadership, and account teams, to ensure investment and strategy alignment
  • Partnering with the creative teams for digital asset creation and the content writing teams focused on creation of shareable written content, to ensure managers are providing innovative solutions and strategies to end clients and sharing learnings with the team and agency

You Must Have

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the development and implementation of content marketing and outreach strategies within the advertising industry.
  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) or equivalent practical experience. A Master’s degree in a related field is a plus
  • Minimum of 3+ years of prior staff management, development and mentoring experience
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead a content marketing discipline within an agency/business in a highly collaborative environment to develop and execute content marketing strategies, plans, and programs for clients in a variety of industries
  • Strong knowledge with assigning content performance and gaps, content calendar creation, consulting on creative asset development, and running outreach programs for strategic placements resulting in campaign and SEO performance
  • Created high level content marketing strategies and integrate them into the overall marketing plan across social media and other various platforms
  • A track record of participating in successful new business pitches
  • SEO experience and knowledge to build effective strategies for organic growth and lift
  • The ability to administrate the content marketing business unit while reporting to the Upper Executive team
  • Deep knowledge of all aspects of the content marketing space: platforms, vendors, measurement, content creation, media, technology, UX
  • Strong understanding of creative to drive direct response results from consumers that will achieve target goals
  • Proficient knowledge with influencer marketing, affiliate marketing, and international development a plus
  • Strong knowledge with measurement and reporting tools such as Google Analytics, Google Data Studio, Adobe Analytics, and Google Search Console
  • Experience scaling content marketing campaigns for a diverse range of clients and verticals (Must have: ecomm, retail, and lead gen experience Nice to have: hospitality, entertainment, financial services)
  • Ability to perform media performance analysis using statistics and experience in identifying trends on large data sets (you can use pivots and VBA) and A/B and/or multivariate testing of ads and landing pages
  • Working knowledge of paid media and other services in relation to content marketing
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about complex issues, leading to thoughtful recommendations, action plans, and campaigns that drive high ROI
  • Knack to delegate efficiently and manage internal teams in the development and execution of effective plans for clients
  • The ability to use consumer insights data, content performance, and key trends to inform the development of strategies and plans
  • Strong time and project management skills, with the ability to identify and respond to situations rapidly
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; including strong presentation skills
