The strategy team at Hawke is the embodiment of our tagline: Your Outsourced CMO. When looking at this team and a role within it, we’re looking for someone with a solid grasp of marketing in general, with a passion for applying that to a digital space; the background to back that up is an excellent add, mind you. The team works with a myriad of clients - typically 5-8 at a given time - and the work ranges from startups with a dollar and a dream all the way up to multinational corporations looking to scale their next launch or to optimize their presence and brand.

 

When fully up to speed, you can expect to be the primary point of contact with your clients, to deliver competitive analyses, to craft brand positioning research and statements, to guide messaging creation and ideation, and to build full funnel marketing strategies that include channels, spends, and headcount recommendations. We are committed to being platform agnostic, and we approach all of our marketing efforts with an omnichannel focus, and nothing is off limits or off the table in terms of what we can tackle and advise on or around.

 

At Hawke we like to say “You’re going to talk the talk and walk the walk” meaning you’re not only the person speaking with the client but also the one executing the work that will lead to the client’s success which means first-class communication skills are non-negotiable. This person should be flexible, organized and ready to roll up their sleeves anytime a new challenge arises-- and let me be the first to tell you, there are going to be some really bad days (see below.)

 

As you can imagine, agency life isn’t for everyone. Everybody at Hawke is familiar with angry clients, with bummer days, and with getting bucked off the horse from time to time. Position Cornerstones

 

 

Analytics

  • Extremely strong analytical skills, with a data driven approach 
  • Ability to extract trends and insights from complex and disparate data sets
  • Understanding of business-related concepts (i.e. margin, gross margin, COGS, etc) and the interrelationship between key metrics
  • Experience with Google Analytics, and other 3rd party analytic tools
  • Solid understanding of Excel or GoogleSheets to create industry-specific forecasts/projections 

 

Creative Direction 

  • Firm grasp of brand strategy and management concepts and what makes a successful brand
  • Experience guiding creative and visual direction on cross-channel campaigns
  • Creative copywriting ability including customer personas, taglines, headlines, USPs, ad copy, website copy, etc 
  • Familiarity of creative best practices when utilizing Facebook Business Manager, Google Display Network and programmatic ad buying platforms
  • Understanding of brand stewardship and how to grow and protect brand value

 

Relationship Management  

  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills 
  • Ability to have challenging but productive business conversations
  • Passion for building long lasting client relationships across various industries and verticals 
  • Experience in account management, business development or consultative marketing

 

Project Management

  • Process oriented thinker with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and manage various complex projects simultaneously 
  • Experience leading/managing internal or external teams or campaigns while staying on schedule and on budget
  • Proven leadership skills in a results-driven environment   

 

Competencies 

  • Analytics Individual Certification
  • Adwords Certification  
  • Advanced knowledge of Facebook business manager, Shopify and widely used Email Service Providers (Klaviyo, Mail Chimp, etc)
  • Identification of a specific specialty (B2C, B2B, client relations, branding etc) that benefits overall team knowledge and efficacy
  • Stellar retention and proven growth of priority client accounts 
  • Client and internal complaints do not exceed 3 per quarter

  • Provides ideas and ways to implement or improve channel processes, growth or expansion

  • Demos new platforms to increase marketing automation/personalization and team efficiency 

 

Responsibilities

  • Act as trusted business advisor and digital strategy expert to internal and external teams
  • Provide cross-channel leadership and collaboration; own, drive and direct the success of assigned accounts
  • Hold cross-channel teams accountable to provide complete, A+ work, on time and on point
  • Solve complex problems for clients by understanding their business, its needs and industry and analytic trends
  • Manage multi-channel resource allocation, including spends across digital assets
  • Expand on existing strategies, add new services and research new platforms to create growth 
  • Explain complex business and data insights to clients 
  • Knowledge of both standard ecommerce funnel as well as b2b/lead gen funnel (how to build, optimize, etc). 

 

Skills and experience

  • 3-5 years of performance marketing, eCommerce and/or agency or brand management experience
  • 1+ years (out of 3+) in a direct response and performance marketing environment
  • Demonstrated people-management, teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Advanced understanding of 3rd party analytic platforms like Google Analytics
  • Google Analytics Individual certification required
  • Experience as a brand manager, account manager, project manager  
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability and experience advising/persuading C-Suite level executives 
  • Advanced ability to write creative and business oriented copy 
  • Demonstrated willingness to take calculated risks
  • Experience with Facebook business manager, Google Suite (Search, YouTube, Display, etc), UX/UX and CRO, and Email Marketing 
  • Intermediate knowledge of content, influencer and affiliate Marketing
