Are you a content or community manager looking for a new challenge? Are you seeking greater ownership, building sustainable value over the long-term?

ZipfWorks is a technology incubator based in West LA. We're expanding our small team and bringing on a new Content & Community Manager to drive our content and community for one of our network properties, Knoji.com.

Knoji (https://knoji.com) is an open-source shopping wiki where millions of consumers find and share reviews on things they buy. We combine the openness of a discussion forum with powerful search tools that make it easy to slice, filter, and compare products and brands (without combing through messy discussion threads).

As our Content & Community Manager, you'll direct the overall generation of community reviews on Knoji. You will own the moderation of user content, working with our proprietary content management tools and collaborating with the product team to ensure our tools meet the needs of the business. You will own the content calendar, determining which product spaces to feature and prioritize within the community for discussion. You'll also create original content in the form of first-hand reviews, product trend analyses, and product comparisons and roundups. You'll communicate and engage with our community via email, newsletters, and social media.

You will also be a stakeholder in our product development process, providing insights into our community and helping us to create greater engagement with our community while improving the quality of our reviews content.

What you'll do:

  • Manage the editorial calendar. From the latest smartwatches to emerging smart kitchen appliances to up-and-coming influencer-driven fashion brands, Knoji is the place to discuss and review the latest new products. As Content & Community Manager, you'll keep tabs on consumer buying trends and search engine trends, and curate discussion areas where people can discuss notable and hot new product spaces.
  • Conduct SEO research and optimization. You'll analyze search metrics and trends to help develop your content calendar. You'll optimize content across Knoji according to SEO best practices.
  • Create content. You'll create review content for our blog, based on first-hand and online research. You'll create review templates that guide the community's discussion around specific products and categories. You'll also create content for social media and email newsletters.
  • Manage the community. You'll serve as our brand ambassador, engage with users, and manage the flow of communication with our user community. You'll also oversee our user moderation team to ensure community-generated content adheres to our guidelines.
  • Oversee quality metrics. Are our community's contributions resulting in helpful, high-quality content to help shoppers make smarter decisions? You'll define, track, and optimize the quality metrics to ensure our community content equates to a great shopping experience on Knoji.
  • Grow the community. Utilizing social media and other online platforms, you'll promote our brand and find ways to attract new users to join our community.

About you:

  • 2+ years experience as a content manager, content marketer, community manager or social media manager, or other relevant digital marketing field.
  • Writing skills and editorial instinct. You can write and edit engaging content. You can understand what our shoppers is looking for and curate the products and categories that will engage them.
  • Basic familiarity with SEO. You understand basic SEO best practices and how to conduct keyword research using tools such as Google Trends, Google Keyword Planner, or SEMRush.
  • Strong analytical skills. You know how to translate goals into KPIs and optimize them over time. You're familiar with basic analytics tools for social media, email, and the web.
  • Interest in online shopping and e-commerce. You love tracking consumer trends and keeping up with the latest innovations in e-commerce. Bonus if you're a gear head, since much of the discussion on Knoji revolves around smart technology and emerging consumer electronics.

About the job

  • Emphasis on ownership. This is a leadership role, and you'll be expected to develop your own strategy frameworks and execute towards OKRs (goals) independently.
  • Industry-leading performance-based compensation packages. Beyond favorable base salary packages, ZipfWorks offers a unique profit-sharing system for employees, creating financial upside aligned with company performance.
  • Stock options
  • Full benefits including health, dental and vision coverage, 100% for individuals and 100% for all dependents.
  • 401K
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Free food, snacks, coffee and drinks. Team lunches and team events.
