This position plays a crucial role at SMPA by managing and administering contracts with various payers, pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), government programs (Medicaid, VA), and other healthcare entities. 
This position is responsible for ensuring contracts on the “sell” side of the organization are current, agree to SMPA business objectives, align with terms approved during pricing governance, and otherwise comply with SMPA’s policies and procedures. Additionally, this role will assist the Contract Analysis & Development team in monitoring the bid cycle and in reporting bid and contract history to date. This role will also assist in initiating and managing Strategic Pricing & Contracting’s SOWs for “buy” side (aka procurement) contracts.

Contract Lifecycle Management:

  • Support the entire “sell side” contract lifecycle, from drafting and review to execution, amendments & renewals, and terminations.
  • Manage contract documentation and records, ensuring they are organized, accurate, and easily accessible.
  • Update and keep current master contracts to properly incorporate changes from previous amendments.
  • Oversee contract management procedures: 
  • Maintain and continuously improve contract management processes to streamline contract creation, execution, and administration.
  • Implement and manage contract management processes to optimize manual workflows, improve task monitoring and deadlines, and excellent contract management practices
  • Review terms of amendments and bids to ensure language is consist with SMPA business objectives
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to help track and monitor the bid lifecycle and develop and report on key metrics.
  • Maintain summary reports of key terms and discount rates in bid and contract history to date
  • Support SOW and PO generation related to “buy” side contracts using SMPA’s proprietary contract management tool, and support Strategic Pricing & Contracting’s budget monitoring
  • Assist in tracking and reporting membership alignment to Group Purchasing Organization contracts
  • Assist in other duties as assigned, including but not limited to supporting internal and external audits, ensuring pricing governance approvals are properly documented, and helping ensure Pricing & Contracting compliance with SMPA policies and procedures.

The base salary range for this role is $131,360 to $164,200. Base salary is part of our total rewards package which also includes the opportunity for merit-based salary increases, short incentive plan participation, eligibility for our 401(k) plan, medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances and leaves provided in line with your work state.  Our robust time-off policy includes flexible paid time off, 11 paid holidays plus additional time off for a shut-down period during the last week of December, 80 hours of paid sick time upon hire and each year thereafter.  Total compensation, including base salary to be offered, will depend on elements unique to each candidate, including candidate experience, skills, education and other factors permitted by law.
