We are building the future of aerospace.
The Role
As the Manager of Loads & Dynamics, you will be the technical authority overseeing dynamics and loads analysis. Responsibilities include leading Coupled Loads Analysis, managing technical teams, executing engineering analysis, and ensuring performance and reliability of the Terran R systems.
Summary Generated by Built In

At Relativity Space, we have two audacious goals: to build the next great commercial launch company with Terran R and to become America's leading force in additive manufacturing innovation. Both contribute to our long-term vision of creating humanity’s industrial base on Mars, paving the way for interplanetary life to expand the possibilities of the human experience. This journey begins right here on Earth – where we design, build, and fly rockets to deliver customer payloads to orbit. Terran R, our medium-to-heavy lift reusable rocket, fulfills the growing demand for launch capacity, thanks to our iterative approach that accelerates design, testing, and development while minimizing costs. While our groundbreaking research and development in 3D printing pushes the boundaries of large-scale additive manufacturing.

Your journey with us is more than just a job – it’s an opportunity to shape the future of aerospace technology, additive manufacturing, and the human experience alongside a community of passionate, creative individuals. Join us on this extraordinary journey, as we work together to transform our vision into reality.

About the Team:

Relativity’s Integrated Performance teams ensure that our products work across all systems and disciplines, from trajectory design to aerodynamics to reliability analysis and beyond. Our groups size the Terran R rocket, design its missions for customer success, reliability, and reusability, and ensure that every system on the rocket and ground is engineered correctly for the demanding environments of launch and entry. Recently, we completed the preliminary design and analysis of Terran R including Relativity’s first-ever work on launch vehicle reusability, spanning advanced trajectory simulations, wind tunnel testing, and structures analysis, among many other projects.

The Loads & Dynamics team works collaboratively with adjacent Flight Sciences teams including Dynamic Environments and Aerodynamics and across the Structures, Mechanisms, Fluids, GNCP, Launch and Test teams to develop robust vehicle, ground system, and component architectures, generate associated loads, maintain and improve related analysis tools, provide design and test guidance, and contribute to performance trades on time and budget while meeting our technical requirements. A high degree of autonomy along with an ability to prioritize work in our fast-paced environment is required.

About the Role:

  • Serve as company technical authority for Loads and Dynamics, with ownership of relevant requirements, decisions, risks, criteria and verification activities; customer and range certification; analysis methods, tool sets, and workflows
  • Lead development, execution, delivery, and validation efforts for Coupled Loads Analysis (CLA) and other relevant Dynamic analyses, including tooling and automation
  • Establish and execute roadmaps for engineering analysis, testing, and tool development in collaboration with engineering leadership
  • Drive the design of Terran R system elements and operations to meet Loads and Dynamics criteria and to identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability, robustness, or simplicity
  • Hire, train, and coach analysts to be hardware-focused, collaborative, and technically rigorous

About You:

  • An undergraduate degree in engineering or related field and 7+ years relevant experience
  • 2+ years experience leading technical teams, including hiring and performance management
  • Experience in a dynamics role from concept through V&V/certification on a vehicle program
  • Experience structuring, negotiating, executing, and delivering complex analysis projects to hardware teams and certification authorities
  • Experience with testing, instrumentation, and data analysis

Nice to haves but not required:

  • A graduate degree (MS) in engineering or related field and 10+ years relevant experience
  • Experience developing analysis toolsets/workflows using both custom and commercial software
  • Experience leading anomaly resolutions/failure investigations
  • Experience leading an engineering analysis team through a full program lifecycle

What We Do

A rocket company at the core, Relativity Space is on a mission to become the next great
commercial launch company. Terran R, our medium-to-heavy lift reusable launch vehicle, will
reliably deliver payloads to orbit on-time and on-budget for customers – meeting the needs of
growing demand for space infrastructure. Leveraging the benefits of additive manufacturing
to design, test, and iterate at a pace unmatched in the industry, we are changing the way
rockets are built and flown.

Our long-term goal is to create humanity’s industrial base on Mars, paving the way for
interplanetary life to fundamentally expand the possibilities of the human experience. The first
step toward this vision starts here on Earth, by building the next great commercial launch
company with Terran R

Why Work With Us

For 60 years, aerospace manufacturing has relied on fixed tooling and complex supply chains to
slowly build rockets comprised of hundreds of thousands of parts. Leveraging advances in
additive manufacturing, Relativity Space is strategically focused on reducing vehicle complexity,
cost, and time to market.
