The Editor will focus primarily on lifestyle content that will empower our readers with the know-how they need to make informed financial decisions. Part project manager, strategist, storyteller and editor, this role requires an interest in travel, food, wine, home and style paired with stellar editing skills, an ability to collaborate with other departments, respond to analytics and mentor freelancers.

This is a full-time position based in our El Segundo, California office.

Responsibilities

• Assign, fact-check, edit, copy edit and any additional required tasks throughout the production process.
• Monitor quality on all content and address issues with freelancers as needed.
• Manage timelines for production with freelance writers, freelance copy editors and in-house designers, photo editors and video producers.
• Identify opportunities to optimize article linking strategy and add visual interest.
• Monitor performance of editorial content and conduct competitive research to inform our editorial calendar.
• Brainstorm new article concepts and angles, vetting against previously published articles, keyword strength and analytics.

Requirements

• Full command of fact-checking, copy-editing (we use AP Style!), grammar, spelling, punctuation and flow.
• Editorial experience for an online publication is a must, at least three years is preferred!
• Basic understanding of SEO best practices, keyword optimization, and HTML.
• Familiarity with digital publishing platforms
• Bachelor’s degree
