Public Policy Manager
We’re looking for a Manager of Los Angeles Public Policy to join Team Snapchat! Your role will be focused specifically on greater Los Angeles area policy issues. You will be a self-starter with a solid understanding of and relationships with local Los Angeles policymakers that will help enhance Snap’s public policy and advocacy efforts in Los Angeles. Working out of Snap’s Santa Monica headquarters, you will work closely with the rest of the Public Policy team, Legal, Communications, Philanthropy, Finance, and other teams throughout the company to effectively scope, plan, and execute on Snap’s policy needs.
What you’ll do:
Serve as the primary day-to-day policy representative in Los Angeles for all local Snap matters.
Meet with local officials to educate them about Snap’s business and public policy priorities.
Support Snap’s engagement in local associations, coalitions, and chamber of commerce.
Monitor and engage on local legislative and regulatory issues of concern.
Participate in coalition building efforts and other partnerships designed to advance Snap’s legislative agenda.
Identify local initiatives and opportunities for Snap to support.
Participate in policy roundtables and community events in Los Angeles.
Work cross-functionally with other teams at Snap to develop the public policy and advocacy agenda for Snap’s engagement in LA.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Possess a keen working understanding of the public policy and political landscape in Los Angeles
Possess strong judgment and decision-making skills
Ability to work independently and proactively
Outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Knowledge of policy issues affecting the technology industry
Ability to work cross-functionally to achieve policy goals
Possess strong business, ethical, and professional acumen and detail-orientation
Knowledge of and passion for Snapchat and an ability to communicate about our platform to internal and external stakeholders
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Law or related field or equivalent experience
5-7 years advocacy/policy experience on local Los Angeles matters
Preferred qualifications:
Possess strong working relationships with and knowledge of local LA government and community officials, including Mayor and City Council.
